Everyone has their favourites. Please avoid posting more than three if you are going to do youtube videos please try and do them in one post please?
I am sure some will totally ignore this request
Style is unimportant - every style has something great and great bassists in that style.

I chose this one because being possibly one of the more senior members heading towards the 60 mark, not a lot impresses me any more.
This young lady has the jazz/fusion "X" factor.
She was 20 I believe when she did this and has been playing since she was 6 someone told me. I first saw this about 6 months ago.

I do not like the tune particularly but her skills and solo technique is well beyond her years and is exceptional. She's like an old soul in a young body.

    @Olymoon

Wow Oly she is really something special.
She has so much heart. Almost like Miles Davis on a bass the way she lets her lines speak.
    Thanks for this.
    I loved it.

Exactly what called my attention to her. Even when she is simply speaking, you can feel this... She is this kind of "with a big soul" musician.

She is really something, I watched a few others of hers. There is one there called "Difficult choices"... She's a really intuitive and sensitive musician.

As far as traditional music goes that is creative and funky but I cannot hear enough of the bassist.

Esperanza is a a new force in music in general.
She almost created a record in the Grammy Awards by a Jazz artist, in beating a pop artist for best new talent.
Bieber pretty much faded into obscurity almost after that.

Her 5/4 version of "Body and Soul" is ingenious. It's nothing technically over the top, but her rhythmical phrasing and concept in rearrangement is wonderfully creative.

Great to see some Federico Malaman he's a monster too. Thanks mrpsanter

Here's another you all might like - Michael Manring
He is super creative and tries to combine nearly anything he can get his hands on. I put this on another thread somewhere. It's more appropriate here.
This really caught my attention because he has made the fretless not sound like every fretless people have come to expect since Jaco Pastorius. (Jaco is a legend and like Hendrix will contiinue to influence generations to come).

Manrings bass is set up really uniquely.
He has Hipshot tuners, the newer model where he has setup two different tuning drops on each string.
Check out some of his stuff on youtube. He is really different and definitely a virtuoso.
