    Greetings.

I'm considering a new netbook based on AMD E-450 CPU @ 1.65GHz for general low-end use including VST doodling.

Re. performance, multitasking etc... does anyone have experience using a Netbook PC to run VST synths, generators and/or a DAW ??
    - keeping in mind ASIO usability.

    Or - any views ?

    Thanx.
    Dal ^_^

I had a friend try to use a net book, he ran FL studio on it and he couldn't do much before it started glitching ( a max of 4 Nexus 2 plugins )i dont know the specs on it, but im sure running low end VST's on it would be fine. good luck

It's nothing but frustrating. The only thing you can do is a bit of sound design (i.e. running a Daw and one VST).

... Or editing, but nothing more.
In two or three years things will be different.

Actually I seen a netbook run a whole band, run the lights system, run click tracks, run fx instances and different mix setups for song tracks all live using a netbook, using only Reaper what else can get this all going at once

Someone at the reaper forums posted some pics, very impressive with the midi automating the entire show

Only thing here is no VSTi's

It's called a "Netbook" for a reason. It's designed for simple tasks and priced accordingly. If all you want to do is surf the net, then get a Netbook. If you are serious about Music Production, you will need a more serious computer.

Net books or laptops are alright for doing live stuff or when you travel about.
It's the battery and the cooling that lets them down,
plus you have to keep the power lead in if you are doing hard core stuff so it kind of waste if you ask me.
bye a desktop there are some good systems about for the right price at moment
