Hi everyone, I have spent hours trying to solve this but I don't know what to do anymore.
I got a pack for Omnisphere on Rutracker with 100gb + of content, but for know just making Omnisphere work at all would be great. I know there are already multiple threads on the subvject but I have read all of them and nothing as helped me so far.

I mounted the ISO, copied the content on my C drive and launched the installer. I followed the instructions and everything seemed fine but when I open the standalone app, it asks for the STEAM folder location. After I locate it, an error message tells me the folder is not writable, then similar messages pop up and I end up in a basic menu. If I close the app and open it again, it's just a black screen that freezes and crashes if I do anything.

I have allowed every permission in the folder properties, the check is on for full control and write for every users. The shortcut link was created and works in program data/supersonics, and I tried 3 different Omnisphere installer including the R2R release with a clean install with REVO or deleting files manually between each one but the result is always exactly the same.

I tought maybe the STEAM folder itself was corrupted but recent comments on the download page shows people having no trouble with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask questions if I missed something in the explanation. Thank you in advance

 

It sounds like you are trying to install Steam folder to an external drive, to me. Don't do it that way. Install Omnisphere (entire thing including Steam) wherever it wants to put it by default. Don't change any options, or "custom install". Put it wherever it wants and then move it later.

If you already did it that way, skip my answer. I'm on Mac anyway.

 

If you have space on C drive, then just put STEAM folder in Program Data/Spectrasonics, like clone said, also on a Mac, but I guess we can install it the same way, there's Spectrasonics - Omnisphere 2.8 Core Library [STEAM] on RuTracker which should go to your Program Data/Spectrasonics folder, then 2.8.5d version of the app/VST, I use MORiA, probably any same Win version works also, been using that same thing for 2 years now, no single issue.

Things to check if not done already:
Default location is C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM (STEAM folder must be all caps).
If you have created a shortcut or sysmlink to a different drive (internal or external) the folder must still be in all caps.

I have found that a symlink works best and, can be created before you install & update Omnisphere. The installer & updates will see the symlink as the default folder from now on.

Your symlink should look similar to the following changing the destination to reflect your actual STEAM folder location. Open command prompt as Administrator and type:

mklink /D "C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM" "E:\Spectrasonics\STEAM"

Hit enter and you will get a success message. Remember that the symlink cannot be created if the original folder still exiests.
