A mechanical 500 GB HDD as system drive in 2024? Just to save 20 Euros and get the performace of an early 2000s system??

    some things to consider:

    1. 5600G has an integerated GPU which is much better then the GT710 mentioned under 5. and is free because the 5600G is the same price as 5600X
    2. Why choosing an AORUS Elite for this CPU and GPU? waste of money. take a cheaper midst tier B550 and youre good
    3. 600 watt is totally overpower for this CPU GPU combination 300-400w is more than enough. -> cheaper and better efficiency
    6. save some money. some sound proof case is not needed without a high power CPU / GPU you can get the pc silent with that CPU and GPU combination and also with a 5600G. you could get a pretty blant but usable case with integrated power supply for about 45,- or without power supply for about 25. buy a couple high quality fans and a good cooler instead ( i dont see any cooling option in that config. but the b quiet pure rock is considered a very good value for money)
    7. wait 2-3 weeks for black friday and you will get a MUCH better option on monitoring for the same price and for a little bit more (150-200) you can get 4K or 32" ultra wide maybe even buy second hand if you want. get at least WQHD and not FullHD for music production!
    8. get a bigger ssd! id choose AT LEAST 1TB if not 2TB for music production
EDIT: just saw you recommended a mechanical HHD. thats a no go! always choose an SSD (preferably an NVME type) as a system drive!

with a $600 budget and 5000 Gen Amd cpu i would consider buying second hand. at least the CPU Mainboard combination maybe with memory and SSD already included. Also with the monitor and maybe the power supply you can save some money second hand.

What I currently have is a ryzen 7 1700x ,rtx 580 16 g ram with a shot power supply the power supply needs a jump just to turn on does it make sense just to upgrade power supply and upgrade ram and just keep what I got

Keep the RX 580 for casual gaming. I'd get an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X or 7700 (which comes with a cooler). It's a bit more expensive but it's a beast and more than three times as powerful as your 1700X. Better spend 100$ more and you should get an AM5 Mainboard, 32 gigs of RAM, a 1TB M.2 SSD and a power supply.

Edit: Or get a Ryzen 7 8700G and ditch the RX 580. The internal graphics unit of the 8700G is nearly as fast as the 7 years old RX 580, so it's also ok for casual gaming. But you save a lot of power/heat and so reduce the power bill. Also you can get a far less powerful but good quality power supply. CPU power is not quite on par with the 7700, but it's still 8 cores, 16 threads and very fast.

I built something similar for my friend, he's more then satisfied with it:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G (or in your case 5700X with your RX580)
Mobo: Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2 (in your case you probably can use your old one)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4 3600MHz CL18 Kit (why not really)
    SSD: Crucial P3 1TB M.2 2280
    PSU: Seasonic S12 III 650W

This is mine upcoming AM4 build:

    CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X with DEEPCOOL AK620
Mobo: Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4 3600MHz CL18 Kit
    SSD: Crucial P3 1TB M.2 2280
    PSU: Seasonic S12 III 650W
    Case: Chieftec UK-02B-OP
    GPU: XFX RX580 (used)

AM5 builds cost double and in my case, 5900X smokes 7700X in audio benchmarks, don't think mine build even exceed your budget, you already have few bits and pieces.
