Although, one last thought. You might be able to make a "room" pretty easily with some 2x4 frames and scrap fabric or carpet. Sounds like all you need are big gobos and they probably don't need to be fancy.

No prob. Honestly, I'm probably just muddying the water... the headphones are a safer bet over all, I think.

one of those ! i see u cant get acoustic treatment like i am. i choose take a room divider just behind me, that plus some "flying panels" or just with some standers to put behind the monitors maybe can help u a lot ! of course its not the way but for me works a lot better than my open bedroom !

 

I have a set of HD600. Bought them over 20 years ago and they are my main mixing tool. I also have a pair of AKG701 that I use.
Both are great headphones but the most important thing, whatever you decide to buy, is to get VERY WELL acquainted with their sound.
Listen to as much and different music as you can with them so that you get to know what they sound like.
This will help you immensely in your choices and judgments when mixing and mastering
