    What's up guys,

I'm currently working on a track, trying to experiment a different style, between Triphop/electronica (I don't know.. is it ?).

I need your advice to reach an optimal result in the last phase of mastering.

PS: Also feel free to follow me on Soundcloud, I'll autofollow back.

    Musically, Elias.

EDIT : Thanks a lot of your massive help and suggestions, helped me a lot.
Thanks also to Yooooooooooooo, he rechecked the track, and turned it into this beauty, here's the Qmastered version:

  6. That's pretty much spot on for a self master. The only concern I'd have is that your stereo image goes a bit wide in places and you might have issues in conversion to mono. If you're not worried about that, this is way good enough. Sounds like a K14 target on levelling, such a nice refreshing change.

Wow that's so generous of you! I'll be thankful. I'm trying to reach a similar sound to FKA Twig's Pendulum.

Oh I'm flattered, thanks for the advice, I still have poor knowledge on stereo imaging, how can I check if it's right or not? I tried watching some videos about imaging, none of them is informative enough.

Sounds fine. Your reference controls and spreads their low end up in harmonics, you are relying on a really loud kick in contrast to how they are doing it.

Other than some small balance issues you re doing it properly. TBH its sounds like old Massive Attack a lot more FKA

Well it’s a bit like television. In America you got NTSC (never twice the same color), if France you got SECAM (systeme eau contraire americane) and in the UK there’s PAL (perfection at last).

Lots of US vendors place their sweet spot at -16dBFS an AES standard I believe, everybody else uses EBU rules and goes for -18dBFS. Here’s a picture of Dave Pensado in his lair. Judging by the haircut he musta had Madonna in, cruel bitch. The nearest piece of audio gear to his right hand is his digital audiometer.

Us, we can make do with Voxengo’s free SPAN.

Down in the bottom right is a correlation meter. Anything to the right of 0 will sum correctly to mono, anything to the left won’t. You can throw sounds beyond the outer edges of your stereo speakers by using phase manipulation, but when converted down to mono, like on a radio or a small TV, this will phase cancel out (like an NULL test) when converted, and your eerie wooshes or whatever will vanish from the mix.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you, this made things clearer, I had the voxengo span but never knew how to read it properly, this will definitely change the way I handle and view my tracks.

It's nice. Maybe a bit "rhythmic", meaning a "backing" track. I was wanting to hear some lead instrument. Would make a great soundtrack for TV or movie.

Yes, it was intentional, since I was hoping to find a main vocal.
