Hey guys hope you are well and have 4:30 minutes of your time for a new mix I just finished. lots of work on this complex song for my new album. I would love your overall comments. used VTM and VCC hoping I did not overdone it. I dont have great monitors and dont have a treated room so I have problem with bass. but I will go tweak my mixes in two different pro studio with 2 different pro engineer before a pro mastering. so it should do the trick!

It's good Personally, I'd rethink the intro, it doesn't seem to fit for me, I'd get straight into it

Vocals got a little buried around 4min (give or take) and then the nylon string kind of jumped out really hard after that. I am listening on computer speakers.

Did you mix in mono? Sometimes helps with the volume levels.

Whatever, that's just knit picking opinion crap. SOUNDS AWESOME! Well written and well performed. Thanks for sharing this track.

 

oh wow, there are plenty of really good ideas... I like that very much! reminds of some Death Cab For Cutie stuff. Very nice!

One thing: IMO the rhythmic guitars need a little more body/depth/width/compression/"attutude" ... don't know how to describe.

but all in all ...respect and thanks for sharing!

 

Nice track. But the cymbals/hihats are too overdriven. Scraping the ears somehow. gentle subtraktive eqing at 2,5-4KHz could be worth. But nice trumpets and nice coda.

great critics. might be right about the guitars, vocals and cymbals.
I will tweak the hihat and cymbals better. they might be harsh at time.

as for the intro. I like it and most people seem to find it cool how it build's up and surprises. matter of taste. might do a radio edit later.


as for the police..more about the drum and hihat plays really just that IMO. not that much. its more modern.

I only mentioned the intro as there are now a lot of stats available regarding this and losing the listener, basically it's the most vital part of the song

 

you are right but it's really pseudo progressive songs i'm doing.so they are not made to be radio friendly or commercial. radio sucks anyway! ;) but I know the songs have a catchy and pop vibe to it. just trying to be different that's all.thanks for the feedback mate
