Ok then, exactly what technology is making AA's technology obsolete?

 

Unfortunately NOTHING you listed saturates like hardware.... thus the need for Nebula as it's the closest tool to get hardware saturation when needed. While you many not need API or SSL many do... thus tools like Nebula have tremendous value to many.

 

Algo technology has it's strengths, but it still can't properly mimic tube and transformer based saturation, especially dynamically, thus the need for Nebula technology.

 

i wish i can try this on external HD ... tried a lot , never succeed ..

 

DSP does not suddenly allow algo technology to properly mimic transformers or tubes... if you think it does you don't use hardware.

 

see the point is it doesn't have to properly mimic transformers or tubes to embarrass an Acustica fanboy in a mix contest - just saying

Nebula is a tool, nothing more nothing less.
As a tool it does what no other digital tool does, that's its value IMHO.
I work hybrid using hardware, Nebula, and algo plugins... I like tool options as each have value.
To each their own tool choices.

 

If someone can't properly use a tool, it's not the fault of the tool.

I think we should have topics for blind comparison between plugins vs plugins vs hw... its fun.
I see in other forums, sometimes they choose unexpected free plugins over paid ones or plugin over hw...
In the end, just output matters. (+speed, for me)

 

For me sound quality matters most and has priority in my tool choices, to each their own.

 

Sometimes we can have same high quality output with regular tools too...
I was serious about blind comparison topics. We definitely should have it. Its interesting and fun.

 

Most people who hate on Acustica plugins don't have a clue how to use them, produce on garbage speakers or headphones, or their computers can't handle them and they hate the freeze track workflow.

 

Neither can Acustica's technology. It can, like all well coded software give a good/fair representation of hardware. The benefits of outboard DSP
is emulation or, digital processing without the CPU/Memory/Graphics hit.

Have you tried the free Burier plugin from Kit Plugins?

if you walk out to the edge of the forest and look back, you will see more than the small stand of poplars that have taken over one small section.

So.. all of the analog mixing consoles, outboard gear & tube amps (Hi-Fi & instrument) don't count in your way of thinking?

Anyone have experience using "cracked" Nebula from the sister site with legit paid for libraries, or alongside real Acustica plugs?

I've gotten really into the power of Nebula through that and want to explore further into IR modelling. I saw that the Acustica dude was in the thread on the sister site saying "don't even try ever using our plugins after using this. we'll know", and I can't tell if that's a bluff or not.

the super secret frequency watermark embedded into that one aux send stuff again?

Does it have some technology that lets them somehow find a song on the internet to check for it? lol.

Ah sorry, I think my post was unclear. I was asking if anyone has used Nebula from sister site with either A) legit, paid for libraries for Nebula or B) alongside any Acustica plugins. I've been using said Nebula and was considering trying option A and/or B, but what the Acustica guy said in that thread gives me the impression that it's not possible.

I went and dug up his post, here's what he said:
"THIS IS NOT A CRACK.
It is a redistributed bunch of files with an ugly installer.
Nebula is not protected, infact you can't run libraries
If you bought or use other plugins I suggest to sell them now or don't install this, ever, in the same computer where you have other plugins (even free ones)
I don't want to read your email asking why your plugins don't authorize any more"

 

Yes, but where is this "specific piece of hardware"?
There is NO hardware. It is a digital model of some hardware.

It IS all about technology advances. Nebula IS "technology advances".

Do people think some "essense" or "chi" or "spirit" gets transported into their computer from the vibrations or waves of the analog gear that has been modeled?

There is no analog inside a digital plugin. None.
It is ALL DIGITAL.

 

Your explanation is way too simplified. Yes we are talking digital but its more about which plugin deviates more from analog.
Nebula and AA deviate from analog a lot less than most of the competition, although in 2021 we have some smoking algo developers with a small cpu hit.
