Im using Native Access to get Instruments but when un attended it tries to reinstall then it removes the iISO file
even if it fails to install and I have NO way of just downloading and keeping the ISO :(

any work around it on a PC with a fixed copy of Native Access and serials

I normally copy and paste the ISO as its installing. You can also interrupt the auto deletion by double clicking on the ISO to launch it so that it stays active after the install is complete.

This behavior has been in place for as long as native access existed.

Like @5teezo mentioned, its just the way native access has always been. You just have to wait until its downloaded and then copy the iso before the install is complete. No other way unfortunately.

If you remove the delete permissions from the NI Downloads folder, all the files remain after install.
    1. Right Click on your NI Downloads folder > Properties > SECURITY tab > ADVANCED button
    2. Click Disable Inheritance
    3. Click "Convert inherited permissions..."
    4. Select the "USERS (COMPUTERNAME\USERS)" group and click edit
    5. Click "Show advanced permissions"
    6. Now you are able to remove the two delete permissions: 'Delete' and 'Delete subfolders and files'

The native access way is a bit of a pain, due to this and having to install the app initially too.

Just rename immediately after DL started (so while it appears to download). For example add a 1 behind ('Analog Dream1'). Install will fail, but ISO remains. You don't have to wait, the DL just goes along works. ISO also works.

right after iso download process, when installation starting, kill native access with process manager, open download folder and copy iso to any other place on hdd. then you can restart native access (maybe you also must kill product installer/msi installer process if using windows os).

or change download folder settings to usb flash drive and just remove it from usb when installation starting, close native access, plug in flash drive and copy iso to any place on hdd.

before the end of the installation in the properties of the iso file put in "read only" so it will not be deleted at the end of the installation

If your MacOS can mount ISO images..

Mount the image before installation as NI won't be able to delete it since it is locked in by the OS.
While the image is locked in by the OS a mounted you can still copy that Image to another location.

    In Windows I use Wincdemu.
