Nakst Apricot - Free Hybrid Synth
    [IMG]

    Key features:
    • 2 main oscillators, with 6 different subtractive waveforms, modulatable phase offset and panorama, with unison modeled off the JP8000's supersaw. There is also an additional third oscillator, with less parameters, intended for use as a sub-oscillator.
    • Sample layer. There are currently 44 factory samples, ranging across 10 categories. The user is also able to import their own samples.
    • 2 mod envs and 2 LFOs, each with 2 dedicated modulation slots. There is also a modulation matrix with 8 additional modulation slots, for a total of 16. There are over 70 modulation destinations, and 10 modulation sources.
    • 5 effects: reverb (with 4 selectable algorithms), ping-pong delay, stereo phaser, parameter EQ, and a distortion unit. The distortion contains Light, Soft, Middle and Hard algorithms closely modeled after the Access Virus, to achieve a distinctive asymmetric distortion.
    • Arpeggiator and sequencer.
    • Multi-mode filter that can run in low-pass, band-pass or high-pass modes, at 12dB/oct or 24dB/oct. There is a resonance, key track and drive control. The drive can enhanced with a "warm" boost, which mixes in a subtly "inflated" signal.
    • Streamlined single page user interface with scaling ranging from 100% to 200%.
    • Over 60 builtin patches in the factory ROM bank, accessible from the patch browser.
Available on Windows only ...CLAP Audio only ... Linux version is coming
Actually it's still in beta but works very good ...(Works in Bitwig 4.3, FL Studio and Reaper beta)

If only there was a CLAP2VST3 or VST2 wrapper.

    More than "a bit" :D
Remember how many time it took to get an AVERAGE VST3 support in top DAWs.

Linux/CLAP... nerds trying to push their vision.
    Good luck with that !

I wonder how many ppl will REALLY try this beta ...

Too bad, because the sound is good.

It requires a CLAP host (such as Bitwig) or FL Studio (it runs with the native plugin format).
Only Windows is currently supported, but Linux support is underway.

    We can read tks :D

HOW MANY DAWS can run this plugin ?
Even more for a beta test ?
    2 ? Let me laugh a little ...

    S1
    Cubase
    Logic
    Ableton
... what are those shitt* useless DAWs no one use ?

That's the question with CLAP : it is a NICHE
Like Linux users for music making

  10. terrific!

    terrific! Guest

Personally I couldn't care less about what format it is, clap, vst2, vst3 yawn... does it work in windows 10 x64 Ableton Live 11 and does it sound good, bringing something new to the table and/or sounds better than the 100,000 other synths out today? if so, I will try it. if not, I wont and I will forget about it. Sure I could download and try myself but I have a cue of about 150 others to get to first :trolls:

That was not necessary for your argument. Let's not start another DAW "war".

The plugin dev has stated in a discord server that they are against Steinberg's licensing for the VST format. Then again, really can't complain because free is free.

Audio demos are also on the KVR thread

Obviously the decision belongs to the developer and I can understand his logic about vst, but this plugin will have a limited success until clap is supported by enough DAWs.

I'm just as critical as you are Olymoon, it has to be cross-platform.

Two questions I would like to ask:
    - Is it possible to earn money with the new CLAP interface?
    - Will CLAP eventually become the new standard?

The company we all know, "U-HE", writes in its headline:
"CLAP: The New Audio Plug-in Standard" (Source: https://u-he.com/community/clap/)

If you want to know more about CLAP, visit these websites:

i have FL, but i dont use it. Since i outgrow its workflow.

I have checked the Audio Demos, very cool free plugin.

@Olymoon It only need a wrapper, no need for DAW support. Hopefully Clap will get wrappers soon.

VST standard is very restrictive, since Steinberg puts up a lot of bullcrap, therefore new ideas became hard to implement with VST.

VST will still own the market because DAWs devs have no time to loose on CLAP.
    And so plugins devs.

That kind of reasoning is running in circle.

Until Waves or Steinberg use CLAP, it is a Linux case : yes it can be better ... but no one will loose time with it.

See Bitwig and Reaper : Linux compatible
Nice ... but who use Linux and Bitwig/Reaper only ?
And wrap VST plugins to use them ?

Once again : running in circle
CLAP is already a dead end by the nature of MARKET SHARE
Like Linux as DAW station. Or even worse, general user share.

Most computers running Linux are servers.
That's all you need to know to understand the term "dead end".
Whereas Linux is free to use since 1992.
    Yes 30 years ...

CLAP plugins are going to share the same market than Linux in 30 years : 2.1%
I don't even speak about Linux DAWS ...

PS : i LOVE Linux Mint as general use

At least for the plugins I use, I wouldn't be surprised if 1/3 of them were available as CLAP by the end of next year.
But I mostly use smaller developers' stuff!

The major bottleneck for CLAP is right now the support in other DAWs, this can be solved via wrappers. So you could actual make CLAP plugins and wrap them to VST2/VST3 easily.
Something which was not possible for your linux example case.

Another point is also CLAP support for JUCE, but this can be hacked into as CLAP's git has provided something there. (Majority of devs uses JUCE btw.)

You cant believe how much moaning goes around about how stupid some of the decisions for VST3 are and CLAP attempts to solve them and it is also an open source standard.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But we are going to much offtopic here.

Apricots audio demos seem to have the JP feeling, so if you run CLAP supporting Host or FL thats a no brainer to get.
