I got on fb and other social networks to do shameless self promotion. (since then I have found it nice to re-connect with SOME old acquaintances). A few observations and thoughts, and a request(the "shameless" part): You can set up a musician/band page separate from your "person" page. fb has changed the way people see their "pages" and personal "stream" (see your doctor if you are having trouble with your stream)-so the number of likes you get for your "page" is more important now. If you have more friends as a "person" than likes on your "page", you can get more people to see it by sharing from your "page" to your "person". Make sure everything is public. It then shows up as a link(with a thumbnail)on some people's feeds, assuming they have not already blocked you for being shamelessly annoying. If you get enough likes on your page, facebook starts offering discounts/credit toward facebook advertising. Here comes the grovelling: I would be happy to trade "likes" if you have a business or musician page, as long as your music or business doesn't espouse any kind of hate against my fellow humans, or killing puppies(even remix "artists" ). If you would be kind enough to like my page anyway, that would be most gratifying. http://www.facebook.com/AllenLeeGeddes Other stuff: I am currently having trouble with myspace audio playback quality when I try to upload a new song, no matter what allowed format I try to upload in. My older uploads still sound OK. And sometimes I find playback blocked to one of my songs for no reason I can find. Is anybody else still farting with this archaic place have any similar experiences????? Next: Does anybody know some groups on SoundCloud that tend to focus more on "live" home recording than digital music and re-mixes? I have found SoundCloud very inspirational as an artist, because even though I don't make anything for it, it is nice to see people all over the world have given up a few minutes of their lives to listen. Makes me feel like I'm not so much in a vacuum, and can cut through the noise somewhere. Many thanks to all the people from AudioZsexpro community who have listened. Lastly, make sure you link everything you can: Facebook, SoundCloud, MySpace, Twitter(even if you don't have an account for your phone), your can opener, etc. because so much of what happens in the music biz and internet is the result of random stuff, the more you are out there, the more chances you have in the "lottery'. I could have sworn the forum category was "internet for musician". I've never been an internet junkie of any sort. I'm just a trying to use internet social networks for promotion for my songs and myself as a musician. Not because I like it, but because that's where the most potential audience is. Just another tool. But I've been an audiophile probably since before you or the internet were born. *yes*
