Hope ya start to feel bit better about things, must be tough @asad12. Parenting is vicious joy, I can't even fathom why or what this means, rly. It's kinda incomprehensible. Hope ur son can adjust, he's prolly a little bit old to get over things as easily (instantly =) as lil kids do, but hopefully he can forget & move on. His brain is definitely more "elastic" than ours, though, so it will probably take more time for you to adjust / cope / de-stress? Not that this is very comforting, but still, hope (and feel) that it will all work out fine in the end...

Happy to hear you're moving to a safer Minnesota, I lived there for a while as a kid and loved it. Regarding the pistol, I would recommend taking your son to shooting ranges and teaching him as well. I was taught how to shoot and maintain them at 13. Learned gun safety and how to respect them at a much earlier age so they were never scary or treated like toys in my family. It might actually help you all feel more secure after the traumatic event. If there is an intruder and you shout that you have a firearm they would probably just run away, please take proper home defense courses. Wish you all the best!

Just as a matter of perspective, I think, rather than ask, "Why me?"--it may help to ask, "Why not me?" Why should tragedies only happen to "other people" and not you? STAY STRONG, BROTHER.
