That it has the simplicity of Studio one and Reaper. To have the piano roll of Fl Studio. It must have the GUI of Cubase and Audition. It must have the native plugins of Cubase, FL Studio, Pro Tools, and Ableton. To have the option to transform audio to midi, as Ableton does. The Pro Tools transporter. Well I don't remember anything else right now.

And last but not least...it should be free!:winker:

oh yes something else. That in the news when you open the Daw . You will see the new news of the sister site:mates::phunk:

    Yours?

    I have visions too:
Study computer science - Start a company - Hire specialists - Look for investors -
Try to undercut the competition or to steal their customers with more quality.

You know, I've been reading about Behringer's upcoming free DAW which they plan to have VSTi's based off their hardware synths. Anyway, I digress. My Utopia DAW:

Cubase is already nearly there with its plethora of features. What would be nice is if they had a programmable XY controller like Bitwig, a lighter UI like Reaper (which is easier on the CPU), a way to more efficiently route instruments and effects lie Bidule, the pitch shift module goes up to an octave and not stop at 7st like it now does, they had a sweep autofilter, Bitwig's module crash protection system, maybe even their own modular synth (although the free Cardinal rack is good as it is).

For me, Ableton is perfect - Like the GUI, the Audio FX and i started to also love the Stock instruments. There are a few flaws, but i found cool workarounds for that, which good enough for me. Wouldnt change a thing.

Cubase and Audition GUI ewwww - the Cubase GUI is one of the most unbalanced one i have seen, parts of the GUI is so tiny, while other parts are way to big. Also alot of space is just wasted without having nothing on it. Even any Zoom levels on Cubase wouldnt change a thing, as its unbalanced, if you scale it, the tiny parts are well sized, but the big prts are huge. (Roland Cloud Guis suffer from the same problem.)

FLs Piano roll is very good, but for me its to overloaded with old features ...

Reapers python scripting is awsome, but for that Ableton has got M4L - Max supports Gen, which eats C++ code ;)

Thats my point of view ... For me always Ableton Live wins.

Bitwig also got some cool stock synths and FX, but as i tried it, i missed so many things Live has ...

Enough points from my part here ...

Let not end this into a DAW war here yet again.

Reaper. Honestly all i need is some tracks, the ability to load third party plugins, and basic routing and midi options, so i guess that's any DAW under the sun.

edit1: fuck, i erased a bit accidentally. But the point is still the same

edit2: But since this is hypothetical, i'd really like a daw that can change the color palette of third party plugins, i think it would look very cool.

logic's routing is much more straightforward... reaper has this windows 2000 vibe for me and I hate the routing....

The first discussion about the best DAW took place on 11/11/2011.
The last discussion about the best DAW took place on 11/11/2111.

After that, the basis of the discussion changed and people were talking about which is the best power provider:
Google - Amazon or Facebook, by the way, those were the 3 companies that remained after the big economic
crash in 2111. Steinberg went to Amazon, Ableton went to Google and the rest went to Facebook.

All i need is to send stuff to buses, which in reaper you do by dragging the route button on the channel you want and dropping it on the channel you want to send to. Don't see how can you be more straightforward than that, maybe for more complex routing options? Idk.

Also, awww shit, here we go again.

I just want the fucking hot keys back from the first 20 years of Cakewalk. Why do they change that shit?? (Yeah, there's probably a way to customize them but why do I need to waste my time on that??)

I like studio one. I wish it had noise removal as easy to use as Reaper though.
