K man.. me and my ancient computers will go sit in disparager's time-out, but if a computer has lasted for 3-4 years without any issue and software still hasn't caught up to the hardware then why would you go spend a bunch of money for the heck of it? I'd rather spend the money on software and gear, or feed entire remote villages for several years using that money. Especially considering Apple has made it much harder to upgrade components via 3rd party and forces them to buy apple everything at triple markups. Seems wasteful to me but like you said to each their own I guess. I've got a great idea though, how about you guys send me your computers every time you replace them :mates:

No, mate. Just don't go that path :mates:
People are not all the same, so isn't their wealth. For one an Apple Mac is expensive for the other it's just one work hour. So, like time and space, money's worth is relative. That doesn't mean someone with more money than us is programmed by Apple. He just has more $$ to spend and most likely takes it easier ;)

Everybody does what he likes.I know Windows,I know Mac OS and I don't find Mac OS amazing.Mac is more fashionable than usefull!
When you know Windows it is pleasant to use.
My main problem with Mac is its ridiculous price.

That's it though, your main issue is the price. I have no issue with money. Many others don't either.
Saying their stuff isn't useful and more fashionable is very narrow minded.

Only one thing bitter here I see...
Should I sell my sports car while I'm on because budget cars "do the same thing". Or buy a budget lawnmower because "it cuts grass"

It's (some!) people who were schicki micki with Apple products. They started to sleep in front of the Apple stores before a new generation iPhones were sold. But I don't think, those people are here.

A friend of mine is really the opposite of technology addict. He bought an Apple iPhone (I think it was v2) form Telekom for 2.000€ plus he paid a monthly fee of 50€ for two years (simple math = 3.200€) just to own one.
And you know what? He didn't even use it as a phone because he couldn't deal with it. He bought a big and expensive music player to hear music on it (an used an old Nokia as his cellphone). That's what I call an idiot. Not those who love their Mac for making music.:winker:

But when I hear that the OP will go on buying and using Apple although he's been kicked in the ass by Apple several times, it's hard to understand for me (at best):knock:

p.s.: In this case my way would be building a hackintosh using a pirated OSX etc.

Yep. This way of thinking would mean a piece of art would never have been sold only because someone finds it adorable.

Transfer it to music, people thinking this way would not buy a piece of music, because their elecric toothbrush makes a looooonger noise much cheaper. :hahaha:

Hackintosh is the way to go. Been using one since 2006. Running Reaper on it and it ROCKS! I was a longtime Pro Tools user but had to dump it when I saw what Reaper could do.

No money issue here either, really.
Also like to buy what performs the best for the money I spend.
So definitly no Mac here. Well I have an excellent one actually. I think I turned it on a couple of time. It's pretty and good at taking dust in my living room.
Having no money problem at all doesn't mean I can afford to be stupid. I actually would prefer to not be stupid and spend money on garbage harware.
Who would buy a broken unfixable ferrari instead of a performing working Porsche ? No matter how wealthy they are no one in their right mind does that.
Just my 2 c, of course, as usual.

  13. Comparing apples to oranges, I prefer my apples in pies and my oranges juiced. I hope to buy a new computer this year, and it won't be a pie.

Using a broken Ferrari to a working Porsche example... Oh well. Why did I expect anything different :dunno:

Typing this on my amazing, high spec, no nonsense, I'm a free spirit Windows super PC btw. But most of the moronic comments aimed at Macs don't realise we use both. Because we can.

Moronic argument ? Yep. Making it about money...That's really the realm.
And again, I have both (I say I cause I'm not in a moronic sect). Cause I can.
I just don't touch that piece of garbage in my living room. Cause I can.

It is, giving examples using broken versions of items. Yep
Keep using your amazing PC, happy for you!

Seems you didn't make a well informed purchase if it's just "sitting there" does it? I'll steer clear of any advice in future thanks

Edit. If you read the thread properly you would see it wasn't me who made it about money, was the previous comment. Go check ;)

You are the one that made this comment ? That's what I reacted to.
In term of hw differences bewteen mac and pc it's a bad, bad, bad, argument.
I understand some people can prefer the OS, but making this kind of comparaison regarding hw, when everyone knows apple has been cheaping down the quality for almost a decade, what a freaking joke it is.

Edit : Well informed purchase....Lol. Just wanted to check what the freaking buzz was about. So I bought one. It's crap. End of story for me. Apparently users of this crap are uninformed about it. But I wanted to check it out directly and be informed, without trusting blind comments on forum from people who think a computer is a lawnmower.

Nah, I'm good dude. I've got my good old mac sitting there and giving erections to Mac fanatics who gave a kidney to get one half as good when they come home to have a nice diner. It's enought as far as magic beans go.
