Hello! I'm struggling with some audio routing and I don't know at this point if it's posible or not.

I have a kick and a snare, I made them sound pretty and route them into a drum bus and added heavy compression. What I want to do is export them separately, if I do it the normal way by soloing it doesn't work because gain differences when put them together and only one of them is being compressed when exporting.

Is there any posibility to mute (for example) the kick drum but still afeccting the drum bus and export the snare as if it was being affected by the kick? Sidechain?

I'm using FL Studio but an example in Ableton would help too.

Well in Ableton there is a way to export individual tracks using the render options, so there is no need to solo and mute. The option will take out the processing done using the bus and will only give you the solo tracks.

What you would usually do then is just bring those tracks back into the bus as processed audio, then do the sidechaining or further 'gain processing' from there.

What you are trying to do basically is use a sidechain and compression as a gain processing technique. A good practice is to do your gain processing after you export those tracks as audio.

Usually you would wanna export to audio in order to use those processed sounds you made later on in other tracks or to save cpu... but you wouldn't do any gain techniques on them yet until once you bring it back into the production you're working on.
