Not really a must-have 2020. More something I was really surprised by and I use always since I gave it a try.
One of the Brainworx console channel strips.

Put a channel strip on every track, set the TMT (tolerance modeling) to the same channel. Then randomize the channel on every track. It is not a night and day difference. But it is definitely notable and adds something I like.

Plugins I use every time are

    Townhouse
    console E
    bx 2098

I really like the lindell audio 80 series - I am "still evaluating" :winker:

What do you guys think about the new voucher rule?

Although I understand the reason, I don't think it's fair to everyone. Normally I use a voucher for a 24hrs flash sale (besides sales like Black Friday or holidays). And yes I know the price is already acceptable in such cases (like $29.99) but now the vouchers will be 'useless' because I'm not gonna add something else - cheapest option would be the bx tuner for $19 - to reach a higher order value.

I'm gonna buy the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor Class A which is a bargain at the moment (normally $329).
bx digital V3 > M/S processing, always useful
bx refinement > dealing with harshness
maag eq2 > 15k air band works great as an exciter (not available on the eq4)
spl transient designer plus > amazing on kicks and drums/perc
spl twintube > heating up / smoothing out synths and bass
spl vitalizer mk2-t > same with the maag eq2, adding sparkle and brightness (on synths for example)

Picked up bx_oberhausen so far, and now Im stressed as I cant decide between Focusrite, SSL G (I have E), Shadow Hills A or Iron. I'm gravitating to Shadow Hills. Been trying the demo out on some drums and its one nice compressor.

You can upgrade the SSL G for less than retail price if you have another console... Just take a look at your registered Plug-ins... Using the voucher for expensive things is a smarter move I think...

Bought the Focusrite because I am a sucker for channel strips and I have the E & G already. The shadow hills is one of those killer mastering comps that just has too many controls for me. I just know I would never use it.

I demoed it wehen it came out. I didn't convince me. Maybe it's because I produce Hip-Hiop and the 1176 is just too aggreasive on these type of drums a lot of times. It's like having an 1176 on top of an already great 60s/70s drum loop which has been smashed by preamps and 1176es already. It's probably great for acoustc drums, though.

Well now there’s the thing. I thought that until I watched Dr Mix playing around with the original unit. Then I had a play with the demo. It’s actually, surprisingly simple. Really it is.

Just get the opto till it’s doing something, check the gain, then play with the discrete to taste. Its magic and really simple. I find channel strips more complex.
