... in contemporary songs in and out of the top charts

A research by Royal Society Open Science:

"We analyse more than 500 000 songs released in the UK between 1985 and 2015 to understand the dynamics of success (defined as ‘making it’ into the top charts), correlate success with acoustic features and explore the predictability of success."

    Thank you. Nice, interesting work.
Now I finally know why I've never been as successful as Lady Gaga!
    (and never will be...)

If ya wanna sell a lot of anything you've got to appeal to the middle of that bell shaped curve.

This research is shear and utter nonsense. Most of the songs (99%) stem straight from 'the industry'. Heavily marketed and produced by it.
Anyone who thinks a song is popular or successful because of its contents, talent or shear beauty is an idiot. We know now the house
rigged from the bottom to the top. And that the only reason why any of these songs are, were famous is because they were shoved down
the throats of the masses. Could have been 500.000 totally different songs. Top 10 hits are- wait for it - : created. Manufactured. Concocted.
Instigated. Produced. Artists are carefully picked and raised to their respective fame, success. Songs are carefully selected according to 'neatness' and catchiness. Cleaned up like there's no tomorrow. 1985? That's exactly when MTV took off, wasn't it? But they were doing it
way before that ... here's a few vid's that will shatter some dreams and illusions right off the bat:
    Beatles to Doors to Dead
    Beatles to Bowie to Stones
My opinion, anything that conforms to the norm can be made a hit if repeated enough. Period. Enjoy!

Unfortunately I don't have much space on my stage, it's pretty tight there.
But if your instrument is not too big (which I suppose), then maybe you could fit on it once.
By the way, what's this Miley, should I know it?

actually it's a bit oversized.. so I would have to regretfully decline the invitation..
but if you have room for some silicone curves.. "she" may be willing to reconcile.. :bleh:

as for Miley... you might have room for 2 of those "stick girls" , she would miss her falsies tho..

in terms of the topic of this thread.. I am not sure how much "lower" the music industry
can go in search of "success" , it only shows I have a severe lack of imagination
in devising ways to debase art, culture, and humanity...

( with the exception of occasionally channeling love dolls for cheap laughs )
