Really enjoyed the Distressor comparison. Have not like any Empirical Labs plugin clone so far personally.

The SSL fusion video reveals to me, that the components being used are not of high enough quality to resist drifting of tolerances and, are possibly not well placed or shielded from heat & interference. The heat is most likely from a poorly chosen or designed power supply.

This one is based on a LA-2A unit he built for his own use.
