sorry its not the porn, its the ubiquity of the porn. its everywhere and since the strongest human urge next to eating is to procreate, it becomes an infinite journey to frustration at the cost of other needs. Most people have no sense of balance, they are like animals. Hungry dogs, eating until they vomit. If you have no restraint, your natural urges will make you a prisoner of your desires.

A soul without balance is damaged. which leads one to wonder, why does so much"free" porn exist? Is it to capture the attention of the masses and divert them from considering the cages they live in. Hard to see the prison when you have your head inside a screen.

 

putting aside much of your other opinions on porn, it is true that the ubiquitousness of porn brought on by the internet, and depending on how much a person consumes, studies have shown rising damaging psychological, social, and physical sexual performance issues, especially among young adult males, that's correlated to the growth of online porn availability.

Can you elaborate on some of the issues you observed regarding the destructive effects of porn?

I found that it gives me brain fog (aka attention deficit) and kills my motivation and drive, which can be explained by the dopamine rush and subsequent hormonal dysbalance in the brain.

I also found that in vulnerable people / people with existing mental issues, it can be a "make-or-break" mental burden, between still being partially able to handle your daily business or getting into a apathetic, unproductive state.

 

Some people don't possess the proper will, or temperament, to consume porn, just like many don't have the will or temperament to drink socially, or gamble recreationally. But that's their problem, not mine.

 

Porn is also somewhat beneficial, otherwise we wouldn't start and continue using it. It grants immediate gratification, distraction and quick dopamine rush. But it comes with a high price tag that shouldn't be ignored and it can become an unhealthy habit / compulsion / addiction for some, especially those who are vulnerable due to their individual predisposition.

Being a shy loner and becoming dependent on porn? That's a recipe for staying a loner and avoiding potential friends and partners.

Being mentally unstable, fluctuating between very strong feelings of depression & anger and grandiosity & mania? A porn habit will certainly not help to stabilize the mood in a good middle-ground.

Same story as with other substance and non-substance (eg behavioral) addictions: they give immediate gratification at the price of a negative aftermath. Our brain is not made to be in a constant high, every extreme high comes at the price of an extreme low. That's one of the fundamental principles of human biology, referred to as homeostasis!

Personally, if asked, I would recommend to abstain from using porn, but at the same time I don't exclude the possibility that some people might be able to use it in moderation and without significant negative effects.

 

Yeah, I often wondered whether the unlimited availability of porn has to be seen in the context of "Tittytainment" (which is actually not referring to porn only, but to all forms of media and audiovisual distraction, meant to feed the population with a constant source of entertainment to keep them docile and passive, like the breast of a mother keeps her baby calm. Zbigniew Brzeziński, the former policy advisor to the US government, coined that term and the idea behind it some 30 years ago or so.
