I had a dream some time ago that had some music that made a real impression upon me. I was in the loft space of an artist and on her stereo there was music that was made from sounds you might here in formula one racing ... specifically the garage of a formula one team while they are changing the tires for instance .... really clear samples, very high quality, but I have no hope of finding it because there's a new genre called "drill" that is throwing up a ton of false positives every time I search.

Does anybody here have any idea what I'm talking about? As I mentioned I heard this in a dream, so I don't really know if it even exists, but it would give me a real thrill to find confirmation that it does.

as far as finding your music, do you mean the music playing in a formula one garage? or music made from the sounds of a formula one garage?

I don't know what kind of equipment they use to tighten the bolts when they are changing the tires on a formula one car but it sounded the same to me.

Hi, I need to reiterate .... what I am inquiring about is not my music. It's music that I heard while I was having a vivid dream .... I was in an artists loft space and she had music playing. The artist mentioned that the music was made from samples. It was beautiful and the samples were impressive all by themselves ... very clear and giving the impression that whoever made them really knew what they were doing.
What I heard in my dream was music made from recorded samples of what sounds like equipment you would hear being used in a very high end garage (or what a high end garage sounded like 20 years ago - god this description is such a mess, I feel like an idiot).... it doesn't have to be a formula one garage .... I just used that as an example ..... and after listening to some new videos of formula one cars taking a pitstop I would have to say that the equipment doesn't sound like it used to .... apparently I don't have any idea what I am talking about anymore. I apologize if I've wasted your time.
And regarding drill not being a new genre, it is to me, but I'm old, hehe. I don't pretend to keep up with that kind of thing. The only reason I know about it now is because the genre name is an impediment to my search efforts.
I think I should close this discussion .... the music and the alleged samples it was made from may not even exist .... it was a dream after all, and I find myself unable to provide you all with a coherent description. The matter is hopeless. I apologize. :-(

 

Are you talking about some glitch type sounds?And than with an echo from a "garage" or a cave?

 

mate in a dream is to much inbetween abstract unconcius stuff connecting your thoughts .you can be only be inspired by it .you cannot recreate it . also in a dream there is stuff making sense or work which totally not working or making sense in reallife . i dunno dude

 

interesting.. how about this one from the bjork musical, dancer in the dark. incorporates factory sounds. Great movie actually, though extremely extremely dark.

 

Fast drills sound like servos, if you look for camera zoom sounds and play around with their speed you'll get there.

Funnily enough, there's a genre called "drill and bass", which is basically hypercharged jungle breaks. Stuff like early Squarepusher:

The latter one has one snare fill that always gets my attention. Why? It sounds like the doorbell in my old place. Fooled me a zillion times.
