Preset browser works in Logic 10.6.3 on Catalina here.

 

If I open Logic 10.8.1 in Rosetta mode, the browser works!

So it is most obviously a problem with the Apple silicon code of OsTIrus 1.3.12 in Logic, because the same silicon AUi works fine in Reaper. And also the Osirus 1.3.10 works fine in native Logic 10.8.1.

Yeah. I think the mojo of Virus B or Virus TI is behind the Distortion/FX section.
If you add FX version of Virus and use Distortion or other effects on any vst synth it's +50 XP To Pro Sound!

 

Has anyone managed to open OsTIrus 1.3.12 AU on Sierra?
I couldn't do it... unable to authorize it in the Logic Plugins Manager.
Very strange because AU Osirus & Vavra work great on Sierra/LogicPro)

Any tips?

I don't use Sierra, but have you tried:
sudo xattr -cr /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/OsTIrus.component

You probably will need more than luck. I added the .component file on High Sierra like normal, used Codesigner to codesign the plugin, OSX Validate all AUs application to force validation by Logic. It asked for a ROM/reload, and so I used Suspicious Package on the Mac Virus 5.1.7. Software Suite installer. In the directory tree there are .mid files for every Virus Rom (6912), and there is also the firmware.bin the plugin asks for in the popup message that you get without it there. And it works.

It runs nicer on my 5.1 Pro than any of the earlier emulators. Particularly Vavra. Adding a gain plugin at +8dB is needed, but it is what I always do with the ti2. There is an output gain, but with the Logic gain plugin you also get the 1 click mono button and l/r balance which can help with some patches. None of the controls are mapped, and there is no Midi Learn by right clicking a control.

I thought the CPU use would be the dealbreaker on your old machine @ElMoreno but it is ok on mine. You may want to update MacOS to High Sierra to get them working, because you will probably have to. Vavra has been released for a good amount of time and if that was going to be "fixed" it probably already would be.

 

clone to the rescue! Color me surprised when I found out that OsTIrus uses less cpu time than some regular synth plugins on an i7 2012 Meck Meanie and is actually usable.

 

First versions of Osiris (without Gui, thru virtual controller) either B or C roms were too glitchy on my i7 3770k. Only simple sounds, basses were fine. Leads, chords, seqs, arps, pads were glitchy. Then performance became better, Gui added, but still too problematic..... Since 1.2.20 or so and higher were fine to play, not so much glitches appeared. Then newer versions with performance update came stable. 1.2.25 or so..... Now it is ok.
Even OsTIrus now on this my old machine runs perfect. No problems with osirus, Vavra, OsTIrus. Couldn't test with more than 2 instances, because my projects are already overloaded by VSTi, vst, master bus,many tracks, inserts, busses, sends.... Just use 1 instance then render, replace, then second one etc.....

 

I want to try Virus Ti emulation, are there any presets or patches to pay attention to ?

 

I believe the problem is not my Mac but the Sierra System... but the question is: why Osirus and Vavra work and not OsTIrus?
Maybe the programmers team didn't consider something?

 

It's the first release OsTIrus - it's not perfect yet. Give it a little bit more time and wait for soon-to-come updates

 

You could try it in Reaper to find out if it's working at all. Maybe it's something else.

 

Sierra is almost 8 years old, which is ages in Apple's world. Maybe the modern compiler doesn't support it anymore? The oldest supported system of many apps is High Sierra.
