I have to say...

I'm comparing the new Emulator with Adam Szabo's Viper.
I've no idea what the real Virus TI sounded like but if the emulator is as good as people are saying, then I have to say I can't tell that much difference between the patches on this emulator and the Viper.

 

This is unreal, this is insane, I still remember this girl flexing with her TI and me wishing to have it in my computer.

Bit accurate emulation is so godlike, and this, for free for everyone who can have a computer and an internet connection.

Can't wait to test this gem out, my gratitude to everyone involved. Thank you for this gift. Really.

 

Just to be very clear, it is not a matter of 'as good as', it is the Virus TI ported 1:1

The Viper comparison is interesting, though. I'm sure Adam would be pleased to hear that!

Real Virus TI should sound identically same as OsTIrus, like recorded thru digital outputs into digital inputs. Just code from hardware vs same code from PC plugin.
And Viper is a closely sonically calibrated emulation of Virus TI and... OsTIrus)

 

So I've been comparing some patches to hear how they sound on Osirus vs OsTIrus. Has anybody else noticed that some patches made for the Virus A/B/C sound thinner on the TI, especially on the low notes? Since this is emulating the real thing I'm guessing this is a hardware characteristic. Maybe you can tweak some values to make it sound as fat as on the earlier models. Still quite interesting to have this direct comparison.

edit:actually the high-end sounds a little muffled on the TI as well.

Viper is still very good, and in some ways is better than OsTIrus because you can use different wavetables and it has shimmer reverb.

 

Use the same MIDI input on Osirus and OsTIrus , render both tracks, reverse polarity on one track.
What you will ear is the difference between both rendering.
Use an audio freq visual too.

So you will be fixed

Sorry, open Factory on the list on the left side. Click any bank. Rightclick and it will show Refresh. Click it. Past that, you'd have to go to the discord for support.

 

The factory presets are the same for both ROMs in OsTIrus.

In Osirus, the presets are of the first ROM with presets that you load, but if you load a 2-part .mid ROM, it loads the presets of the first 1024.mid that it sees. (Some ROMs don't have presets)

An easy solution (for Osirus) is just to export the Factory Virus A banks A/B and Virus C banks C/D/E/F/G/H to your preset folder and that way any presets added to favourites won't disappear when you change ROMs.

I just tried out OsTIrus 1.3.12 in Logic Pro 10.8.1 on macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 on an M1 MacBook Air and the preset manager doesn't work. It works fine in Reaper, both AUi and VST3i.

In Osirus 1.3.10 the preset manager works in Logic.

Does anybody know if it's a compatibility issue with Logic or if there is any workaround?

 

Can you be more specific? The preset manager doesn't show at all or? Is Logic rescaling the GUI? (I'm not sure if that is a thing because I don't us Mac)

People have reported crashes after a while on Logic 10.8.1 but not a browser issue.

 

If you unfold the Factory folder, nothing is shown and so you can't right click and refresh.



In Reaper 7.09 everything is fine, same AU.
