Yeah. No wonder. If you have a low end of 100, that chassis isn't gonna get the job done.

Get a Powercore for it if you can use a PCIE. This is too CPU dependent. They are making some improvements, but your machine needs a miracle worker

 

It is an iMac 1.6 GHz, Intel Core i5 from late 2015. Sure, I know it's not a Ferrari but is it really that bad?

Strange, all the other plugs sound great except this Virus, maybe the plug itself needs too many resources to work well.

Maybe a new plug update will optimise it resources better. Let's hope so...

So it is this setup, any changes or upgrades? Which OS also, Mojave? Like you say, it's not exactly a dinosaur. Have you tried loading some other TI patches, maybe some less complex ones....

Yes, some presets are fine but many others create cracks & noise.... too bad.
Anyway, I'm waiting for another upgrade to try my luck.

 

my 2017 mbp i7 is only around 140ish on Mojave. but I am just using it to bounce some loops of my virus sounds, so I just put them into the project first as audio. not to really "play" it. The latency might be up there, too. other machine is lower. I connected midi controller to laptop and it is surprisingly playable. but that is in a completely empty project.

Yes, I think that the one you mentioned - at present - is the only way to use this plug (mean version 1.2.4) with computer that are not extremely powerful as ours iMac.
To be honest, I should mention that I play whatever I want on my iMac and all the other plugs work fine, except for this one which emulates Access Virus.
Perhaps more work needs to be done to achieve better optimisation of audio resources?

Which midi controller do you have?

At the moment the emulator supports only Virus B, C, Classic, Rack XL roms (if i'm not wrong)!!!

Following the evolution on Discord, the team worked from earliest days on optimizing it for requiring lowest resources possible.
Just think, not that long ago, what was thought unlikely (DSP563 EM, TC PoCos liberated) arrived in a very short time.
Who knows, something may be discovered or a new approach without you requiring a beefier box to use it

 

You need to switch to "High Performance" in Windows Energy Options - not on default "Balanced" - otherwise you get crackles and dropouts!

 

Awesome that uses less CPU than VPS Avenger lol
And it even sendss the current controller values on preset change so my Control Surface is always in a correct state, !
Under Logic X i get stuck notes, under Studio One anything is fine

For those who still do not know the Ultimate Performance mode on Win10 useful to avoid crackles and dropouts:

1 - Open Regedit and check if present :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ ControlSet001 \ Control \ Power \ User \ PowerSchemes

e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61

2 - Open CMD (administrator rights) and type :

powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61

3 - Back to Windows Energy Options and activate new profile

 

I think all that does is max out all the options under "change plan settings" which you can do yourself.
