I consider Serum as a copy of Massive with some minor improvements such as wavetable import and more filter types..

EDIT:Sorry,I didn't see the post was from 2017!

iZotope (except RX). KUSH (ambitious but blurring the sound in the end), Eiosis (buggy, complicated, oversized, but doing nothing worth mentioning).

    UNIVERSAL AUDIO!

Think of it: you pay top dollar for outdated DSP cards which can only be regarded as expansive hardware dongles which has become obsolete in the age of Multicore CPUs. And on top of it you have to pay for totally overpriced plugins! Double fuckery at large. And oh yeah, I have one so I know what I am talking about. ;)

Overpriced placebo junk. AA poops on it and leaves a nasty taste of high quality odor.

Look up SHARC DSP, the chip used in UA's cards, and you'll understand how overpriced UA is. These are off-the-shelf standard DSP chips used in cell phones and other devices but UA makes them seem exotic like they should be expensive. The low end SHARC DSPs cost like $7-12 wholesale, they're not even close to the cost of a CPU or GPU! UA charges 1997 prices for them. Maybe Behringer will reverse engineer UA's cards and sell them for $50.

East West. Ohleewoude iz teh sheet n ehveuhreeouane ou finkse ohzerouaise r duhmbses"
Syntheway. Let's steal sounds from everywhere else and claim it our own (they stole from Spectrasonics and E-mu amongst others)
    Cinesamples. They just sound bland.
Spitfire. Never understood how they libraries works.
ProjectSAM. East West's long lost brother
Soundiron. Although i like Voices of Rapture.
8dio. Their libraries have to be totally drowned in reverb.
    Waves.
    NEXUS.
And a whole lot of others.

The original SAM horns for Gigastudio were quite wonderful for the day. Truestrike was great. And I like Organ Mystique. But the Symphobia and Jazz Band stuff... not good.

I get why people say Waves, as it has the vibe of being a magic holy grail that will make all your tracks sound amazing. Obviously, that isn't true with any plugin. I would have to say for me, IK Multimedia, I always try out their stuff and I just can't ever make it sound good and I end up going with Brainworx or Waves instead. Amplitube is okay but I just get much better results with Positive Grid. I want to like IK but I just can't.

all the emulation EQ compressor (Wave UAD, brainworx,....)
You can reproduce any EQ with a basic parametric. The compressor nothing magic, just take ddfm pluggin doctor and you see the s**** behind it.
    -UAD
-Brainworx (maybe the worst who claim to be the best, TMT is a joke)
-Acustica (700mo for an EQ who do the same sound than a free eq 1mo (do phase canceling))
-Wave emulation (correct but unusefull mostly EQ and some distortion 1073 no over sampling for projet 44khz) . But get good vst and well design easy and fast to use with good reasult opposite of melda
-Izotope nectar (only harminic is usefull) but you have to buy a pack
-izotope RX the denoiser,..... take 4 time more cpu and latency for just do same result than acon digital or worst
    - expodential audio (overprice for this reverb)
    - Ik multimedia t racks
    - Nugen over price for what it do
    - Slate (the good are the one he didn't dev (ana2, reverb by liquidsonic,....)
    - Flux
    - arturia preamp comp
    - NI reaktor, FM8
    - spitfire (lot of noise in violon upper C5)

    Absolutely for me:
1- Slate Digital (an "super ego" developer)
2- Vengeance (another "super ego" with super hi prices for the same samples/presets with different covers)
3- UAD (the same waves/PA plugins but with a big hardware dongle)
