I don’t hate anything or anyone - let’s get the drama out of this conversation...lol...

That said, I was shocked to see people paying $350 (most of them in advance!) for Empirical Labs Compressor Plugin. Had to be the biggest hype job in the short history of digital recording.

You can have 140 audio plugins for $7600 or you can buy a pet tiger ($1000) AND go on a Caribbean cruise (about $1300) for about $2300 total. Options... just saying. :guru:

    UAD all the time

I spend tons of dollars on UAD plug and hardware, finally get Waves, sound the same and with a lot of new plugins along the year.

Yeah sorry i can't agree with this.UAD is in a completely different league to most Native DSP.i'm far from a fanboy either i just appreciate stellar sound, and UAD delivers with bells on.the only thing that pisses me off about UAD is it seems they are intentionally selling underpowered DSP chips so you have to fork out for more Satellites on top of whatever ridiculously priced Audio Interface or PCI card you bought.if you have the coin though and can make the investment,it's worth every last albeit expensive penny......

Overrated by whom? This place/internet or the actual Devs?
There is a difference, as there is the media hype and the old "availability" of a plugin from other popular sites...

Waves all day for me. Bought a many of them usually on sale, but generally just use Logic's version to do the same end goal.
Slate. 50/50 with these guys. Love the FGX, but the other stuff simply doesn't deliver what his cheap marketing promises.

Gotta disagree with Spitfire. Love their stuff and it's always high quality. Bagged 3 more on their Christmas day sale. boom bang tish!

Native Instruments Kontakt 5. OMG all those years they never (!!) redesigned their audio engine, the worst I've ever heard. Harsh, metallic and digital. Awful!! Not to speak about their ancient FX engine. Far, far too expensive i.m.h.o.

Anything from SugarBytes I've always found rather disappointing. Their Main screen is kinda cool looking but when you actually delve into their plugs then U find that underneath the hood is pretty disappointing and bland. I'm sure others have made fair gain with these plugs but for me I would kick them to the side of the road and keep space for more worthy efforts.

Also does anyone give a damn about Dune anymore? Remember how nuts everyone was over that plugin? "OMG it sounds so gooood"

I never really tried it, so I won't call it overrated. But judging by the then->now response to it, probably overrated.
