I'm planning a real return to stage, not just for participate as guest from time to time, so I've finally finished my midi foot controller for my guitar rigs (& midi guitar too). I've found Gig Peformer awesome about guitar amp sims/fx chains by the huge (seems unlimited) chances offered by the software in a "fool proof" way.

I've seen this software demanding almost the half machine's resources than Reaper & working so stable as the daw. I guess that could be possible to achieve more or less the same midi management in Reaper about mixing parallel chains for smooth astonishing transitions &/or reach up to binaural stereo spatialization, but for now I feel GP to be infinitely easyer... The problem is that it seems to sound really "weak" or "artificial" compared to the same rigs made in Reaper!, WTFFFF??

I have no problem to deeply recognize that I ignore too much & there are high chances that don't know how to configure Gig Performer properly about audio. However, I don't find anything about it in the manual (beyond the obvious), but I resist to believe that GP has a "so poor" AD/DA conversion...

    Ideas...?

Thx a lot in advance to everyone for participate.

EDIT; problem solved..., no, not really..., in fact there was no audio problem at all... SHE WAS!!

We're sharing the Beringher UMC204HD, she started to plug her Ovation with a Fishman preamp a couple of days ago & leaves the interface with the line/inst & pad buttons modified, ...didn't realized about the essential impedance different needs because she never before used the Berhinger.

I'm deeply sorry for steal your time this way... ‍♂ Gonna kiss her

If you're a GP customer, why not ask your question on the GP forums where there is already a ton of expertise available?

Good, because that is not at all how that works. GP isn't doing any conversion of that sort.

...u'r right, was my mind-lapse , I meant that it "seems" to impoverish the sound as if it were deforming the conversion (a silly metaphor). As @David_Jameson & @Radio suggested, I will dive into the GP forums. I asked for collaboration here because the level of knowledge that is around Audiosex is significant.

In principle, you should stick with what you know and can use.
I read that there is now an improved version 5, but I have no experience with it using Gig Performer.

My personal gigs contain lots of pre-recorded shit so i use Live for these. But a couple of times i had to guest as a keyboard player recently, i used Cantabile. It's good and i found it to be very easy to use. Less featured than Gig Performer but this means also less clutter to worry about. You can check it out for yourself. I am also checking Steinberg VST Live 2 and although i 'm quite versed in Cubase/Nuendo, this needs some time digging into it, so i can't recommend it, not till i use it live anyway. Version 2 aims to dethrone Ableton hehehe, we 'll see about that.
    Cheers

Thx, I'll try those too. Anyway I would like to understand why GP seems to sound a less lot than Reaper, Cubase or other daws, I mean... there's something truely obvious that I'm doin' very bad, but I can't see "what". I've been reading over there that Reaper has a "live" functionality too, I didn't check it yet.

Yes, I'm using GP v5, I'm in love about move my expression pedals going from the cleanest Matchless to a terribly angry Mesa as if it were the only, best, most versatile amplifier ever made, it is truly something I dreamed of for many years. I'm not using lots of VST/VSTi, but many variations of them chained in several "Rackspaces". I just can't find why responds so different than the daws at quality sound level. I suspect that is something that I'm missing.

Gig Performer is NOT a DAW!
Gig Performer is an audio plugin host for live performance and session musicians, part of your instrument.
    https://gigperformer.com/why-use-gig-performer-rather-than-a-daw-for-live-performance

Gain staging, loudness metering, and audio signal flow

Maybe you will find some answers here: https://community.gigperformer.com

...haha... have a great weekend Pal, thx a lot for your support. Yes, not a daw, I'm not pretending it either, beyond the *Rec* button which for now I find useless. I've been reading a lot about u've pointed to, tweaking the i/o gain values & so on, but the main point of the initial post stills unsolved. I mean, with the same "healthy" i/o mixer values the out in GP sounds lower & "poor", if I increase values (as to reach Reaper's out) GP starts to clip while keeps on as in "poor quality". I'll start again from zero by uninstalling/re-install it so slowly as I can followin' the most fool's proof method that I could find in the GP guides.

Thanks ! Have a nice weekend too. That all doesn't sound so positive though, and you can't tinker with it forever.
Many live musicians use Ableton Live because it is so stable and connects almost everything.
