if they sell you that guitar as a fake then ok. but if they sell it to you as an original yes, it's scary. the same way you should be scared to shop for used 57's and you must always be under the assumption that it's most likely a fake and scrounge the pics for the tell tales of fake produtcs. its a b$%&.

But hey, you might say that a fake 57 sounds just as good so who's to argue..

 

I took a look around ebay and found some of these guitars, the problem is not only are they printing 'Gibson' on the front of the headstock, but 'Made in USA' on the back, when they're clearly neither

 

I'll bet the quality of those guitars are on par if not better than the junk Gibson spits out these days. They should be marked, donated to music programs & luthier schools.

 

Customs and border control kids and their cousins get a chibson under the tree...

 

Agree stromgly. I would not buy a guitar from one company that puts the name of another on the headstock but I have purchaced 2 guitars from asian companies that I play almost everyday and I play so much that I need a few guitars around. One in particular is a les paul style that has been super since I got it over 4 years ago, I guess I love Gibons family of designs for guitar but not SO much as to buy at the price for what they are selling today.

Dude, people have even smuggled guitars MADE of cocaine. The body gets broken down and chemically separated to get the pure coke back. They're even basically functional instruments. Sometimes customs will ask a self-professed guitar player to play a few licks for them. When they can't, they bring out the demolition tools and drug testing strips.

 

I bought a lot of cocaine that was probably made out of guitars, cause it got you about as high as sawdust and a cup of coffee. That was many years ago, guitars have gotten better and probably the cocaine though i gave that up in favor of house payments....cost about the same...

 

Yeah I have to wonder what I put up my nose for a good 3 year stretch. I know the obvious things like the de-worming chemicals, but maybe I snorted some guitars as well. The burns would change from time to time.

Well, if I could do it over again, I would've been doing cocaine at the time I got badly poisoned by a likely combination of poop and misprepared pork. The combination that gives people brain worms
