So... I do trap music day in and day out. I really want to thank you guys for listening to me vent and do the thing that is nearest and dearest to me: sample pastiche boom bap beats. The kids ain't trying to hear it!

Not bad man. How do you usually go about finding samples form different sources that will work together? I always seem to just get stuck on one sample, but I definitely wanna have multiple sources on one track in the future.

Are you familiar with chopping samples? It's really, really key. If you chop a sample loop down to its transients (or let ReCycle or something do it for you) you can massage things to fit together. You can even make a swung loop straight, or vice versa. The more finely you chop, the more control you have. Time stretch / compress adds too many artifacts to the sound for my taste. I'll use it to tune things slightly but chopping is superior in my opinion.

Filters and EQ are also important, so that you can take the bass out of this, the treble out of that, etc.

If you get those two things down, you're well on your way to making most things work with other things; hope this is of some use to you!
