Can you please tell me the difference between controlling (lets say filter cutoff) on the mod wheel knob rather that any other knob using midi learn??

 

The mod wheel on my controller automatically sets itself to it's low value automatically as it always settles at rest by a spring mechanism. Any other knob or slider that you have can be used instead, and you could even use your mod wheel for another choice of modulation.

 

cheap controllers have the problem to be less reliable than mod whells... a major pain in the ass
but both
controls CCs and could be maped the way you like...
