After set the multi-out with Ezdrummer, you can see there are some FX effects such as Amb, Amb Mono, Reverb and Comp. You put all drum tracks in a bus channel. In this case, every time you up/down the fader of the bus channel, these effects will be affected as well.
My question is what is the best practice?

    1) Doesn't matter. Just adjust the bus fader.
    2) Set the bus fader to zero and adjust each fader of the drum set.

ez has multi out right? i like to send each drum out to its own DAW track because i like doing a little sculpting. and to me, stock DAW plugs are better than the built in ez fx. (even though theyre made by overloud, overloud could step up their game here)
so i disable all those fx, multi out to individual tracks. any extra mics they include are nice though. then group to bus. just my workflow. mostly because of eq shaving a little here and there, panning helps alot for drums, and making room for later on downstream.

It's almost the same as my setting. But what about Amb track? It contains the recording of the other tracks as well.

I could never for the life of me, make EZDrummer fit on a song, its so "plastic" sounding that seems to work only with a specific music genre.
I only do metal stuff, but the old school metal with not much processing on everything.

    Maybe i am missing something?

good point about not fitting, yes the grooves sound great and it has real feel of a real player, but hes playing that song. so if we try to sequence it to a different song (ours) then it sounds mechanical. my best solution for that is play the new part myself. or the whole drum part. but i like the samples too, which is a different issue getting the samples to sound good from pads. either way, im pretty happy with my mix routing including room channels (or ambient). i guess i only use those for depth, high and mid frequencies. if i solo a room channel i only have part of the material left.

wolfgang, just think of it as cross talk. what im using has crosstalk on all the channels anyway. try pulling the ambients down like a crosstalk and some panning trickery. eq lefties this way and eq righties that way, and your ambients will just trick the ears to hear more depth

tap to find is a great tool too, if you have one groove thats working and the groove doesnt agree with your song change, tap your next idea in and it'll give you a whole different list of options

the amb track contains a separate recording, from a mic that captures the sound of the room the drums were recorded in, a common practice when recording drums professionally. So it really depends on you if you want to use that track or not

You should EQing and add reverb to make it sound real.

Aha, it makes sense. Thanks for the tips!

Treat the ambient track as room microphones. Bounce it in stereo if you can. Room mics are rarely the loudest part of any drum recording and sometimes, they have been known to be muted. The drier the tracks you have independently unprocessed, the better off you are. Then it's all on you.

EQ´ing something that is already processed is not ideal. That is not what i meant... It seems that EZX is aimed at dudes who want to sound already polished on a mix, that is why everyone sounds the same nowadays anyway.
