Are you serious? Let's assume you have a bunch of options when it comes to EQs, compressors and stuff.

Is the source clean, or dirty?
    Clean, or dirty treatment?
Heavy compression, or soft and which kind, or maybe multiband?
EQ with just three bands, or seven, or even more, or dynamic?
ER, ambience, room, hall, cathedral, or FX reverb?
Simple, stereo, or cross delay, with, or without modulation?
    CPU capacity?

All this is important for the basic decisions (and I probably left out some things).

I've some pluggies which I prefer and like, but I've made mixes where not two plugins were the same.

I would start super basic, basic but effective

    -Inserts: Eqs

    -Instrument Bus: Eq, Compressor
    -Drums Bus: Eq, Compressor

    -Fx-bus(Sends): Reverb and Delay

    -Main Channel: Eq, Compressor, Limiter

When you have achieved your definitely best mix-wise by only mixing levels and eq, apply some compression. then some delay, reverb where absolutely needed. I would always recommend you to go super basic until you really internalize what and why you are doing stuff.

The worst curse and waste of time is when "beginners" stress to use plugins and techniques they don't fully understand. the stress of thinking that we can shortcut to experience is strong, but there is no shortcut. you have to do and do and do and so internalize what you are doing, by the time you do that that you will automatically have acquired the "remaining" knowledge on what to add to your chain/template.

Mixing is not only about chain, there's so many process before you even start the mixing,
    here's to start :
    1. Importing tracks properly
    2. horizontal cleaning
    3. Understanding each tracks individually
    4. Color coding
    5. Marking the song structures

that is why, what you see on each tutorial is the one that finished with this stage. This was done by mostly the mix engineer assistant

and moving forward to processing each track, balancing, getting the song's emotion (mood), determining the "Key Player", adjusting the dynamics etc
this actually what most video tutorial will never tells you ... and the rest is only about the finalization phase, mostly only coloring the tracks and the key player using some creative process, and adding some dimension or depth to the mix.

while the chain is only a small part of the process,
remember this "good input source will be much easier to mix, that is why most of the times ... recording session is the most demanding part of the process, in order to get the good input result"

i hope this could give you some ideas where to start a good mixing, instead of thinking a mixing chain.

learn the process! .. you ask silly question, every chain is depend on tracks and the quality of the sound itself ... gosh, if you read carefullly i stated there on each process where you must use you BRAIN, to EQ, Comp and Adding Depth ... or you can just download any tutorial from the sister site ...kids nowadays, they want INSTANT instead of learning ...

Do you mean mix bus chain? Big Clipper from Boz Digital makes it into every one of my tracks and is super powerful.

oh, your post looked like the typical beginner asking "silly" things therefor we even bothered to answer since a professional or more seasoned mixer would hardly phrase and ask "show me your chain to help me improve".. your needs are definitely not hardware/plugin based

instead, try pulling your head out of your ass

try American 16 console, modern mixbus program on mixbus then solo'd a hi hat, tweak the saturation to give the hi hat slightly more definition, accentuating it's tone and preserving the volume. what happens when play the rest of the instruments? bigger more detailed mix.

I am not going to tell you my secret sauce.

    Ok I do.
On the master bus, only plugins that go to elven.
If that's not enough add some cowbell.

Ok I stop joking. it is not about the chain. It is how you use what you got and like. You should get Demo Projects for the daw you use. There are some for nearly every daw.
