Hi, I made 6 tracks and 5 of them have automation. After I apply automation, I found the bass and the drums made clipping issue. Therefore, I tried to adjust them through mixer console, but the volume level comes back when I play it again or when the automation works.

For example, the bass has fade out and fade in effect. I set the bass volume as 7, and had clipping issue, so I adjusted the volume level as 6. However, automation didn't allow to do it. The volume level comes back to 7 when it gets fade in or play from start. What should I do?

    because you did automation,
    what DAW do you using?

try to find automations and adjust from automation tracks,
or remove the automation and do it again,

don't forget that after automation set the tracks on Read or Read-only,
i hope it could help you :)

In Cubase you can modify the PRE Gain.

You can put a simple volumen/gain VST to adjust the volumen like:
    Sonalksis FreeG
    HOFA 4U Meter
    BlueCat Gain

or you can also use an EQ and modify the output.

We are here: Home Forums > Software > DAW > Studio One, just sayin'. :winker:

    Yep, that's it.
@jin8864 you already made the automation, so, just change it, or take ZUK's suggestion and insert any plug with adjustable output, or lower the output in the vsti.

I am using Studio One 3 and this section is for Studio One users as far as I know. The clipping issue happened even before applying automation. The process is just before mastering and I was trying to figure it out, but also have lack of knowledge of DAW as I am kind of newbie.

Could you explain it in detail? I don't understand what you mean exactly as it has been just a couple of months I have learned DAW. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your answer. I am using Studio One 3. Checked my bass VST, but it doesn't have the gain control. It has volume and master controller, but they are also affected by automation. Is there any other way to adjust volume/gain in DAW? How do I modify the output?

Go to the channels which are clipping and insert Mixtool. It has a gain knob so the further steps should be easy.

You said some tracks have an automation, so I assumed you did that. You can redo/rerecord any automation by activating that soecific record mode and move the faders yourself again or by editing the curve manually. I don't know S1 3, but normally an automation can be made visible as a "curve" (looks like a synth envelope with handles) and you can move the line and/or points.
Edit, is possible, I found this pic:

You can also insert any plugin with an adjustable output. There are, on principle, special level plugins which have no other function, but you can insert a compressor set ratio to 1:1, so no compression is applied and lower the output/makeup gain. Eqs with output level work, too

in this case you have issue with the input levels, you need to do gain stage before anything else, i suggest you to do the process from the beginning!
    Best regards.

I figured it out with mixtool which The Mazeman recommended. Thanks for all comments.
