Hi good people,

I just finished this piano piece with synth added. All mixed in Studio One with Acustica Audio new Gold 2 Piano was recorded on a nice vintage Neve 8066.

It's not mastered yet. It will be mastered in Nashville (Welcome to 1979) on tape.

Excellent piece! The synths and flute could actually be removed because the piano is action packed enough to keep the party moving here imo.

I'd also be wary of using saturation plugins (even the hallowed Acustica stuff) on audio content that was already captured on a Neve because it could degrade

 

Just because I am a stubborn SOB, I'll master it on my own and send it back to you :D

what synth was used..? and what kind of piano ? a Grand you have access to/own ?

i felt a bit of a clash with the synth as well... but what the hell..why not
around 2:16, but definitely it sort of takes over and sounds a bit jumbled
with the piano by about 2:40...

very good piece over all.. keep polishing

[Edit] First listen:
The track is pretty good, I like the dreamy vibe a lot congrats :D now, my 2 cents of the constructive criticism:
- there is a hiss, probably a mic, can you get rid of it?
- the flute is waayyy up high and I bet there are some shit freqs to be cleaned. Some compression may be good too.
- the bassy synth is a bit to upfront, I don't know if on purpose but it eats away the piano (maybe a shelve to send it back a bit?).

The mastering is semi-done, I just need to listen to it on my speakers.

The mallet sound coming in at the end is a bit brash and could use a parring down with both the fader as well as a high pass way down to 7K. It felt a tad hurtful to my ears.

Wow guys! amazing feedback! very useful... I know about the flute synth being harsh.. I might eq it better. and also I will drop the synth bass at the end. I like it fat but might be too disctracting.. I might put a bit more spring verb on the piano and compress it less... I will keep you posted thank you again for the great replies
