What I can tell about panning rythm guitars is to use Virtual Sound Stage 2 and pan guitars 8m (or as aimed for) left and right at 0m distance and ORTF miking in "Studio" or "Free Field" environment. :guru:
Doing this for years with excellent results.

Why because that guy is wrong? and it hurt his feelings to hear so? Andy Scheps, CLA, TLA, Warren Hurst Jordan Volitore, Greg Wells, Andy Wallace, etc all hard pan rhythm guitars. I'm not dismissing what buddy said, just explaining he is wrong on the point he is trying to make.

Oh yeah, my mixes created in my home space would be easily compared to mixes produced in multimillion dollar studios by a team of seasoned engineers if only I knew what I was talking about, yeah ok buddy. I know that 99% of the people like you on these forums who spew and spout all this bullshit pretending you are some master mix/mastering engineer (like how it says under your name "platinum record" yeah you wish buddy), probably have no work of your own that exemplifies your reasoning for being so egotistical about your analysis of others work.

Like your original post wasn't even helpful at all you just want to shit on others work because of your own insecurities probably, you didn't lend a hint of advice just shit criticism. You couldn't elaborate if you tried at the level of actually making any sense or being helpful.

I can see that you are coming from a good place man, I just know that I have done A LOT of reading and watching of rock/metal mixers and KNOW that the best ones who worked on my favorite albums always do hard pan L/R guitars. That's all I was saying. I wish I could afford to pay some great mix engineer to teach me what's going right/wrong with my mixes, trust me I do.

I am most certainty not over confident, I am the most self critical person when it comes to my work, if I wasn't I wouldn't be on here asking for advice. But I'm not a complete imbecile or so green that I have never read anything or watched anything on the subject of mixing, its basically all I do.

And likewise, I don't take it personally, and I hope you don't either, a cup of Joe is welcomed from my end as well.

O.K. I read your text, now let's be productive and improve your mix. What plugins do you work with ? Which DAW ?
A few pictures are always helpful of the settings for example of the compressor - limiter ?
