I listened to a bit of both and in my opinion the original mix is worlds better. Also, you should have put them both on youtube or at least on the same platform, it makes it easier to compare.

 

I respect your input, but i could have went with a modern mix, clean and balanced, but i decided not to, i was a fan of the Hot/Distorted vocals so i mixed the whole thing around it, also the contest actually looks for something completely different, and it was a win/win situation...

Also uploading on YouTube for feedback is not practical, drive is the option that makes more sense in this situation, that being said, thank you for your comment!

 

I'm getting the same problem with google drive lately too, how did you fix it?

I'd make the mix more modern with more low end, less boomy, brighter and less distorted vocals. All just a bit.

But I like your approach much more than the original.

 

Sorry bro, this is so heavily compressed that the vocal is so much higher higher than all else, and the music sounds like a mushy heap with no detail or clarity. For what it's worth your approach is nice if only didn't get killed by the unbearably squashed mix/master. Remix the remix bro and if i can give a tip avoid comps and limiters, use volume automation and let the mix breathe please Oh and find a nice frequency space for the vocal and put it in wile taking it 6 maybe 8 db lower.

I Sent you a pm that should explain it, now to business, The whole idea about this Mix was to get away from the clear clean mixes we do, and i wanted to peruse that idea, that why i'd like to keep the distorted vocals, but i'll focus on making it less boomy and more brighter!

Now i admit this is not the usual type of mixes i do, but believe it or not this is one of the most dynamic mixes i have done, i think you're being fooled by the Vocals (as distortion is compression) but if we take the vocals out of the picture you could hear that the mix is quite well dynamic but a little warmy (if that's even a word ) compared to the original mix, but when you say the vocal is so mush higher then we have a problem, because i made sure the vocals where nicely put in the mix, might i suggest hearing on another system?
The mix is actually one of the quietist i have ever done, i barely touched the limiter @No Avenger can tell you how loud my mixes are usually are

i'll probably re do the vocals a bit because i'm pretty sure you're being deceived by it , other than that, thank you for your comment mate!

 

Confirmed. TBH, I was a bit shocked at first because it doesn't have your usual -6LUFS.
