So recently PUREMIX is bringing iconic mixing engineers to mix the same song and to me this is FABULOUS.

I've separated only the bridge so that we can compare at least the "approach" each engineer takes in the chorus of the song so you can hear how each mix sounds. (Coudn't get the entire song from each one)

So far have been announced Chris Lord Alge, Mick Guzauski, Fab Dupont and Andrew Scheps (there's more to come), but Andrew's mix has not yet been released yet.

There is a problem because I could not get the whole song, so there is no way to have an accurate evaluation (emotionally speaking), but we can have an idea.

The Fab's mix I took from Spotify.

    Here are the audios.
    Fab Dupont (Original) -

Fab Dupont (From the Video Tutorial IN MONO)

    Mick Guzauski -

    Chris Lord Alge -

And I uploaded the audios too, so you can A/B faster.

This is interesting.. Listen the same song being mixed by this different pros can give you a perspective on what they do to bring the song to life.. and off course their different styles.. There is no better way.. Just what you like more.. Yeah the CLA is more Hyped, Wet, and the highs are more exciting but a little less natural.. But still my favorite too so far.. the others are close but obvious Mick Guzauski are second.. Very pleasant highs, dynamics and a warm low end.. The Fab Dupont is good too but when you have CLA and Mick its hard to stand out.. Thanks Banz for this.. I will be waiting for the Andrew Sheps one..

The more important thing I noticed is Chris actually took the time to remove unnecessary tracks and edit the tracks so everything is in time. Tells you a lot about the attitude!

CLA: Didn't like at all, the mix don't match with the song, if i hired CLA probably I would hire someone else to mix.
Mick Guzauski : Extremely well balanced and open, I liked! (There's something in the low mids that I feel its missing).
Fab: The best so far, extremely well balanced and the mix sound indie kinda thing (as it should sound).

Watching all the mixes I have a overall opinion!
The Fab's mix is from spotify, so it doesnt sound similar to the mixing course at all, I will upload that so you can her (its in mono).
I think that mixing and explaining while he is doing can affect in a bad way.
And of course, they didnt need to recall anything, just mix and its done.

Because it's just a mix, I've put a limiter on it.
1st place - Fab - Vocals are loud enough and everything is crystal clear and balanced.
2nd place - Mick - sounds a bit boomy, vocals too quiet, sounds like some frequencies are boosted too much and some seem to lack, stereo picture is somehow unnatural
3rd place - Chris - I can not call it a mix, my ears can not listen to it

    Guzauski’s mix sounds amazing!
    Dupont’s mix sounds really good!
CLA’s mix didn’t really fit with the song vibe to me! But it sounds big and loud!

I understand why you like the Fab version.
His mix sounds more authentic, more organic !

I looked at his tutorial, I saw that he was not free to do what he wants, he had a reference Mix given by the artist.
During all his mixing process, he always listened to this reference mix and has tried not to deviate.

He does not work for him, he works for the artist

The Fab mix is the most natural, the most authentic. But as mentioned earlier, he had constraints. And I like the more mono side that gives a lot of power and dynamics.
Mick Guzauski adds too much low mid, I find, the voice is veiled and if I have to concentrate to listen to the lyrics then it bothers me.
CLA adds a big mainstream rock side that doesn't suit the song. Too much reverb and delays. Can he mix a snare drum without making it scream?

Fab's mix feels incredibly dark and the drums sound like somebody slapped a single mic in the room and didn't do anything with it at all. It sounds small, mono and dry. Maybe cool for disco records, but not so much with a ballad where there's so much space. Also, the chorus feels terribly unsatisfying because there's literally no difference between the verse and the chorus in terms of sound.

Mick feels way more balanced, but still a bit dark and dull. Again, the drums feel underdone to me.

CLA did compress the vocals a lot, but I love the space he got when going into the chorus. And the drums finally sound like drums.

Indie songs don't have to sound like crap recorded in someone's bedroom, you know?
