    -4 what?

Obvious question, but have tried EQ-ing those or doing some high frequency orocesing of other kind?

    Not likely.

Honestly it's hard to tell without hearing it, maybe you could upload a sample here?

Bunch of options: attenuate low shelf, emphasize high shelf, tilt EQ, clipper, raise level of HHs (if too low), saturate (all, in parallel with low cut, or separate tracks). To mention the most obvious. :winker:

First of all, fix your monitoring: it is too bright for your taste, and it makes you mix darker OR you don't properly hear the air band (10k+) and when you compare to references, you only compare up to around 10k and you think you're on point with the high end.

Now depending on how good your mix is (and monitoring issues), a simple eq may do the trick. Get a gentle high shelf and boost as high as 10 dB, just to be able to hear if the mix is getting harsh or not, then dial back until it matchea your reference

As for the frequency, it is impossible to decide wihtout actually hearing the material but I see 2 kind of issues
    - you're missing the 10k area, in which case a steep bell at 20k may lift your air band
    - your mix is overall tilted down, in which case a high shelf starting as low as possible with the gentle boost may fix the issue: try 100 hz, then 200, then 400, etc

If you don't fix your monitoring, you'll always have this issue. So start digging on potential culprits
