SFZ Designer is a cutting-edge sample mapping tool optimized for multiple velocity and round-robin layers. It features a streamlined workflow, assisted opcode entry, draggable key-range and velocity splits-points, and more. It supports all SFZ 1.0 opcodes (full 2.0 support coming soon) and directly exports to .sfz format.

I recommend using SFZ Designer in tandem with Plogue Sforzando for quick previewing. When you re-export your .sfz file all the changes are instantly applied in Sforzando. This is a feature in the player.

    Features:

True visualization of groups (key-range > velocities > samples).
Draggable key-range and root key selection over the pianoroll.
Draggable velocity layer split-points (up to 8 velocity layers).
Supports multiple round-robin samples per velocity layer.
Tune, Pan, and Volume controls for each sample.
Transpose, Pan, and Volume controls for each group.
Assisted opcode entry with auto-suggest and validation.
    Advanced opcode apply-to-all options.
    Group cloning and structure cloning.
    Accepts currently unsupported opcodes.
    Project-level Amplifier DAHDSR controls.
    Global Override at project/group/region-levels.
Full support for SFZ 1.0 opcodes (soon SFZ 2.0 support).
Export-As-SFZ with auto-conversion of sample paths to relative paths.

    Coming in Future Updates:

    SFZ 2.0 support.
    Direct Import of sfz files.
    Auto-mapping wizard.

    Price: Free

This project aims to promote the use of the SFZ format in building quality instruments. With more people creating and sharing their samples, musicians will have access to more instruments for less or for free. You can support this project by donating an amount. Thank you.

Sfz reminds me of early 90's when SBLive made good use of it

Not to be confuse "file extension of .SBK or .SB2." which was soundblaster's format

SFZ is simply a text files making the links with a sample folder and its samples.

Used by Plogue , Aria Player, Zampler , ...
and can be imported into any other sampler , Kontakt, ESX
    and many many more

P.S. Did you know that Zampler RX is still free and now in x64 vst

Yes, and there are even more freeware samplers/synths supporting the open SFZ format:
    Alchemy Player
    TX16Wx
    Plogue sforzando

All three are available for both Mac and Win.

A cool guy has written a converter program that will even convert saved TX16Wx .txpro programs into SFZ, so you have a great editor too. It's available here: http://www.derknott.de/tx2sfzexe.zip

Of course you could also use an older Kontakt version (below V4.2) and convert the NKI into SFZ files using Extreme Sample Converter...

Just in case anyone's still doing this stuff

Soundfont 2.0 was 1996, and Soundfont 2.04 was made in 2006. Also, this is SFZ not sf2, as was written above.

Guy creates nice tool (still in beta too) to make easier the life of those who work with open sample format & ppl belittle the work.

You know companies still sell sfz today? (example impact soundworks?)

But belittle work and spread misinformation. Long live internet.

realitybytez & dios, what wonderful tools have you created for audio world? Did you release to world for free? Links pls. I awaite the greatness :)

For the people who actually know sf2, sfz, text editors, etc, dont be shy to email the dev, he read and respond, and open to suggestions :)

OFFTOPIC: Milton was guy from simpsons, but not even that right :(
