Has anyone here had any experience with Midjourney V4?

I have been working with the engine since MJ3. In the last few days, after familiarizing myself with the new prompt behavior and results in V4, I've been testing some edge cases.

For example, how the engine reacts when you try to bypass the prompt blocks for pornographic material. In my opinion, the engine blocks quite solid in this subject. I did manage to create something resembling a nipple of a lightly dressed young woman in some images, but yeah... The viewer will have to use a little imagination. I wish it wasn't quite that strict, because there's nothing wrong with a naked woman, but I understand why these restrictions exist.

On the other hand, MJ4 runs at full speed when it comes to horror. Amputated body parts and blown-up heads with exploding brains? No problem, if you know how. But I'm honestly a little shocked. As difficult as it is to depict sexual nudity in pictures, it's made pretty easy to produce nudity in conjunction with serious depictions of violence.

Spoiler: Description of highly violent images:

Naked women covered in blood with spread limbs hung on meat hooks. Check. Little girl, with cut tits, in standing piss pose with detailed female labia, from which masses of blood drip on the floor. Check.

And these are just two examples that I was able to produce with my prompts. I've been able to create tons of images like this. I will not post picture evidence or prompt examples on this topic here for obvious reasons. It is quite unlikely that you will get such images unless you target them with creative prompts that exploit specific edges in the engine behavior. But seriously. I think something is going a little bit wrong there. Ordinary nudity would be somehow preferable to me. This, on the other hand, is somehow a bit heavy and should be fixed as soon as possible..


But otherwise the engine is in my opinion quite solid now. Hands, feet, etc, need more attention in future versions. Eyes and mouth are still partly problematic too. And Bellies. I have many pictures with people who have more than one belly button. But nothing that can't be solved with creativity in prompt selection. A massive improvement over MJ3.

What are your experiences so far? Good? Bad? Funny? Weird?

Midjourney is a great tool. Well worth the money spent.
Cue the anti-AI mob in 5,4,3,2,1.....

Hands are among the most structurally complex parts of the human anatomy. Try drawing a hand in different poses from different angles. Even ignoring muscles, tendons and fat pads, light and shadows, this is a difficult task to accomplish. And even more difficult to master. Prompts must be very specific to produce reasonable results. But yes, there is definitely a lot of room for improvement here.

 

AI is fed by people's darkest thoughts. Later it won't be the fault of the machines.

Yes. Theoretically, you could create an infinite number of discord accounts with forwarding email addresses and use them for image creation with midjourney without negatively affecting your main account. But i think 10 bucks for the basic plan is fine, if you need a batch of images for commercial purposes.

I rather it be 10 bucks for 100 images or something. Subscription fatigue, if everything is subscription you can't afford anything, plus its a hassle remembering everything you're subscribed to.

Subscriptions are great if you have a steady stream of disposable income but with the way things are going MANY people won't. I rather save up for something like 1 plugin than subscription of loads stuff I'll never use and constantly have to pay for.

Every as a service is a tread that needs to die.

 

Yeah, 10 bucks for about 200 image generations. How many images you can create with it depends on your settings. Higher detail quality = fewer images. But high detail settings are not always useful anyway. So it can also be significantly more images. You can get extra credits by liking images.

For me this is ok. I use Midjourney mainly to generate characters, settings, objects, etc, for my P&P sessions, so the money comes back in.

 

I use it a lot in my line of work for treatments and storyboarding for films and comercials. Is really a game changer and the point of inflexion on everything we know so far. At least from my point of view. 5 years from now, when the models are all mature enough, the explosiom of beauty is going to be overwhelming, now is just jaw dropping.

I asked her to depict this forum and it´s idiosincrasies and she tottally nailed it.

The problem with these AI image generators is how they reference/steal from people's original art. And an ironic twist, I read recently about a real artist who's work was criticised to be AI generated when it wasn't. Imagine this happening with music, hearing snippets of your tunes in somebody else's supposed composition.

 

Yes obviously, the AI is new in the legal realm.
There s another question: if you generate an image or music with an online free service, who is the owner of this art? You? The Enterprise who's programed the AI, the AI itself lol?

I tried this service but couldn't obtain satisfactory results. I wanted to obtain sometimes similar to this

But probably my description was not good enough..

I'll ask to my son who is a designer to do something inspired by this.
