Does anyone else think it's weird how most people seem more interested in Voice to MIDI and talk about it more on forums, but hardly anyone talks about MIDI to Voice ?

I think MIDI to Voice is far more interesting and fun, because you can hear the voice and it still has the melody of the MIDI notes.

When you research it, there isn't many VSTs that can do high quality non-robotic MIDI to Voice, and yes I know vocoders can do "MIDI to Voice", but i don't count them, because most vocoders make it sound too robotic.

Does anyone know any other decent non-robotic real time MIDI to Voice VSTs ?, because it feels very under-explored in the VST world.

Sounds like a vocoder?

 

Use a pitch shifter plugin like melodyne or yamaha vocodoers

 

Aegean Music has something similar. Basically MIDI controlled pitch shift.

Eventide, Digitech etc had hardware units a decade ago, that never became popular. It was actually more versatile since the instrument didn't have to be MIDI. These units followed an electric or acoustic guitar with no problem.

Melodyne can't be used in real time though, and yamaha vocoder VST sounds bad with "MIDI to Voice"

Melodyne is only good for converting MP3's to MIDI files and offline pitch correction.

it would be would great to have a VST version of this "MIDI to Voice Hardware" in this video, skip to 9 minutes & 50 seconds in the video.

In ABleton 9 there is "convert melody/harmony/drums to midi"

In Reason 9 there is "audio to midi"

aegeanmusic VST's sounds really bad with "MIDI to Voice", but their VST's are good for doing weird pitch shifting effects.

 

MIDI choir 2 doesn't sound great either. Choir?
Unless there is something new to MIDI controlled pitch shift I'm missing, there might be a good reason it has been long forgotten.

And many others

 

I haven't heard any VST that does real time "MIDI to Voice" better than MIDI Choir 2.5, and feel free to suggest a better sounding "MIDI to Voice" VST.

I have tested all of them previously with "MIDI to Voice", but thanks for the suggestions.

I already tested Image Line Vocodex with "MIDI to Voice" a long time ago and it sounds too robotic, but it's always good to hear peoples suggestions though, thanks.

 

As I stated before MIDI controlled pitchshift is nothing new. There is a good reason this fake sounding harmony trick never became popular unless you are a one man band covering some Eagles songs.
With looping, singing the harmony parts isn't so hard and sounds much better anyway.

 

I've heard your mp3. And it sounds pretty robotic. For there are better vocoders who can do that. Like those who have already shown you. And the image line you post. If you use the option "Chord", in fact it sounds better than that mp3.Now if you want something more realistic. Then you would have to download kontakt libraries with voices and route them from a midi track. I hope it was understood. I am using a translator because I speak Spanish.

It is very different one voice and several voices.

If you use many voices, the sound will not be focused on one and will go unnoticed. But if it is a single voice, well there we will be listening more detail. And I think the most realistic would be as I said Kontakt libraries of voices. It's what I've seen so far. Maybe there are more things.

Image Line Vocodex in chord mode and the other vocoders VSTs don't capture the MIDI melody and voice as good as MIDI Choir 2.5 and Infected Mushroom Manipulator, because they all sound MORE robotic.
