I am trying to get my MPC X SE to sync with my Roland TR-8S drum machine so that when I press Play or Record on the MPC it starts playing the Roland TR-8S. I am using USB from MPC to TR-8S

I have tried to get this working and it kinda does and doesnt. It seems I have to press Play or Record 3 times on the MPC before the TR-8S will start, the previous 2 presses it plays like one measure and then stops.

Also when the TR-8S is playing its triggering the pads on the MPC so when I am trying to record say an internal VST I am getting unwanted notes recorded because TR-8S seems to be sending notes back to the MPC.

I dont want to trigger the sounds on the TR-8S from the MPC, I just want to Start and Stop the pattern playing.

Below are the settings I have made, any advice would be very much appreciated.

I did watch a video a YouTube but half way through the video gets blurred and to be honest she wasnt convincing in her explanation of how it works for her.

TR8S 1 = SYNC
TR8S 2 = SYNC

ENABLE MIDI PORTS WHEN DISCOVERED = TICKED

SYNC RECEIVE
RECEIVE = MIDI Clock
RECEIVE MMC = TICKED

SYNC SEND
SEND = MIDI Clock
