    Hey guys.

I'm trying to find some Midi Pack to drag and drop into my Daw and assign to different instrument , to learn how to mix and compose Cinematic and Classical music......or just to have example of how its all build up.

Do you guys know of any website where they give a complete piece ( for example John Williams - Rebel Blocksde Runner ) all midi files seperated by instruments ?

I did a couple of research and couldnt find much .

    Thanks for your help

I did this project a while ago.

AC4's Blockade (Game, orchestral, cinematic, etc)

    Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvdEq6bDt9U

    MIDI here: http://www.vgmusic.com/file/4ef2728b6a39da2d6613d3cea0eb0e78.html

    Corrected MIDI here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/in05jn
(I made some corrections, but also screwed with the MIDI channels & PCs so it's a DAW-only compatible MIDI)

    My version here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/3ngr8f977rapnor/AC4+Blockade-40.m4a

I'm not too sure such a thing (MIDI Packs) exists for official film music. I've come across midi files for Classical music and I know there are some packs of Cinematic type music that have stems and some have midi files, but I can't remember the name of them. You can find those on AudioZ, I believe.

As far as stuff for official film music, I do not think you will find midi files. However, you can always try to find some sheet music and then play/click the notes in for each instrument. Or you can enter in the score into a notation editor and export a midi file. It's a lot of work, but it can be helpful in studying the score. That's another thing in regards to figuring out how to compose different types of music: studying scores and even transcribing the music really helps!

    Thanks guys !!

@Sir Dante: Do you know a name of a notation software that would accept any score sheet and transpose them to midi files ?

Doing that little job is not a big deal for meif i can have the real thing in front of me .

    Thanks again guys !

EDIT: With quick search i found this :

    http://www.musitek.com/

    Any opinion on that ?

Or anything better to suggest ?

Yup, Musitek's SmartScore is one program that will take do the job. Another is Photoscore. You will almost always have to edit and make some fixes, especially with large and old looking scores. If you don't want to put in entire scores by hand, which, believe it or not, can be beneficial even though it takes a while, Musitek or Photoscore is the way to go (I know of no other programs that take images and PDF's and converts them into MIDI or allows you to save them as a Sibelius file).

Yeah, Musescore (the app) will help you with entering in the score if you want to just do it by hand and then export the midi and take it into the DAW and perhaps try your hand at mixing it. Or if you have a MIDI file and want to import it and tidy up the score so you can print it and study it. Orrrr if you want to compose in it. The other notation programs you could use are Notion (more along the lines of a stripped down DAW with enhanced notation), Sibelius, Finale, Guitar Pro (aimed towards guitar tabs but can do normal notation) and I'm sure there are some that I am missing.

And, as you now know, you can find scores on the Musescore website. You may encounter more arrangements than you will transcriptions and the accuracy of the transcriptions will vary. There are also some other places that you can find some scores, although you have to trade for them and there are a lot of people that aren't willing to just give you scores if you don't have anything to trade. And there are some that won't trade even if you do have something unless it's something they want. Send me a PM and let me know some of the scores you would like and if I have them, I'll send 'em to you.

Edit: Yup, GIYF (Google Is Your Friend)! Well... kind of haha.

The best place for classical scores, in my opinion, is IMSLP. Awesome place, that.

Waow that information is pure GOLD !!

To be totaly honest with you Sir Dante, i want to train my head and my ears to the dramatic ''star Wars'' and ''Lords of the rings'' Orchestral/ Choir type of composition !

It always amazed me how much emotion was going through those musical piece and i want to see what is really going on behind the main ''easy note'' that we can all hear.

After a couple of month at training my arrangement with those orchestration, i want to finish an album by doing ''skits'' or ''linked pieces'' of somekind of ambient / african rythm album i've been working on for the last 2 years.

This powerfull orchestration technique with a lot of dynamicis really what i was looking for for a long time now....and i believe i've always been scared of being scared.

Now i have the proper sound library to be ableto recreate something decent (Cinematic Strings2 and Voxos for example ) and i want to get deep into that for a long time.

Let me know if you know where i can find complete Music sheet orchestration for all instruments for those type of musical piece i mentioned before.

    Thanks a lot again !!

hi here is a few midi files i had here for films
    star Wars ect,
most programs will ask you when importing them what part you want imported
so you can split them up that way.

    http://www4.zippyshare.com/v/rrYLe3oG/file.html

And here are some Classical music ones.
im learing bach 846 at the moment good tune,

    http://www59.zippyshare.com/v/r9ZYee9o/file.html

all of these are free to download as well.

also try out a addon / download them all/ for firefox it makes downloading
stuff a lot quicker from most websites if there are alot of files you want to download all at once.

    best of luck
