Has anyone any suggestions on a midi keyboard controller for studio one, I need no more than 49 keys, and not necessary any pads, but at the moment Im open for suggestions.

I got the 61-keys from Native Instruments (Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S61 MKII). I just love it! Maybe hard in the lockdown's that's over the world now, but go to a store, test them out and find what suits you. I would also advice you to look at reviews at youtube (many, since many are sponsored and biased :) )

I've got the A61 from NI (it's a scaled down version of the S61) and I find it very useful. I wouldn't know how well it would work with Studio One, but it's perfect for Ableton Live.

You get snazzy features like track navigation with the 4-way encoder, transport controls, arpeggiator and chord/scale modes and preset browsing using the Komplete Kontrol plugin, the said plugin also functions as a mapper for the 8 endless encoders.

But that's the caveat, if you only use it using the MIDI mode you're missing out, so you have to utilize the plugin really and some people are allergic to that, which I can understand. So if you dislike NI then it's a no-go.

So you get a recommendation for NI's controllers from me, but do search how people would use it with S1 which I can't help you with.

You can try the recent M-Audio Oxygen Pro. It appears to be auto-mapped to several DAW's including Studio One.

Thanks for your replies, most seem to recommend NI gear, I already have a Maschine MK3 and dont really rate its connectivity with Studio one, unless anyone can correct me. I've been looking at the Nektar SE-49, and this fits my needs, has anyone used this keyboard with Studio One and if so how do they feel about it.

If that meets your current & possible future needs, then yes. At some point you will have to make a decision on your own research & confidence.

hello there, someone can confirm that the NI mk2 has a slightly more "semi" weighted keybed than a sloppy synth action? and not the same as (for example) the new Arturia's or a Roland A800 Pro? thank you :)
