You may call it "junk", "shit", crap" or whatever you want, but it already leaves many people without their job!
Next, recollect your early years in the school, you had been taught about A,B, C, D...and 2+2=4, and so on, and it took 10 years to graduate from that school, then college or university (plus 5 years more)...
the same with that "junk" AI, it is rapidly learning the things that are fed to it, relatively speaking, it already knows that 2 + 2 = 4, this is today, and what will happen in 10 years?

Hello @aleksalt, the difference between a software program and a human is: a human can think and make decisions for themselves. They have a central nervous system, they can feel, see, hear, and plan, draw, and implement building plans for themselves.

Look at the cities where there used to be a meadow or forest, there are now man-made houses and infrastructure. Humans themselves invented the computer/EDP in order to store and evaluate all the knowledge they had acquired over thousands of years and to make it permanently available to every person on this planet.

The so-called A.I. does not need vacation, is always available, is fast and cheaper than the worker, it never strikes, has no feelings, therefore it will replace some workers.

He's right. I don't get this debate and I try to stay out of it, but sometimes I think it's good to remember a couple things.

In the first place, many people forget the "A" of the AI acronym. It's Artificial Intelligence, not Human Intelligence. Could be a better description? Perhaps. It's a bad one? Nopes.

Regardless of what we call it you can't argue the results the newer ones produce.

As an example, a week ago I listened to some songs made with the last Suno version. It was a contest of songs with cheeky humor, for the lols. Hilarious lyrics. Even so, they sounded jaw-droppingly good. Vocals, instruments, even a short but tasteful guitar solo in one of them.

PS. For the fellow Spanish speakers here, I'm talking of "Operación Temazo 3" of the known twitch streamer illoJuan. Here's the link. Don't listen with speakers unless you're alone xDD

My last comment was deleted, I believe, due to a direct and disparaging political reference. Articstorm was criticizing the idea that AI is "only linear algebra with neural networks and a big blob of input data", but that, as simplistic as it may seem, it's a lot, and it’s only part of a much bigger problem.

In an ideal world, AI would be a partner in human development. In reality, however, AI has become the perfect tool for surpassing the human element and all its inherent limitations. In practice, this technology is being leveraged to increase profits through the elimination of live labor, generating wealth at the expense of countless unemployed masses.

AI, which should serve as a vast repository of human intelligence and aid in continuous development, instead becomes a tool of capitalism, fueling its contradictions, alienations, and illusions of progress, thus failing to contribute to communal well-being.

And here lies a critical aggravation: once again, the main issue is not AI itself, but rather the fact that those in power (whether corporate or political leaders) embrace AI-generated decisions and productions exclusively, at the expense of human contribution and oversight. This is the real source of the generalized stagnation that the article warns against.

When I use AI for its ability to synthesize information and analyze three scientific papers, I find that the summaries it generates are excellent. However, when I request comparisons, projections, and applications, glaring reductions still occur. Would it not be foolish to adopt biased comparisons, projections, and applications? Professors, from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, can notably detect much more than just plagiarism, they recognize these "data corruptions." But what about the average individuals?

Yet, there are individuals in high-ranking positions within command chains who, due to cognitive limitations, lack of moral integrity, or both, simply implement AI’s notorious “hallucinations” without further scrutiny.

Human verification is absolutely critical to prevent the dangers of seemingly precise responses: 1)Cross-check information across multiple AI sources and consult traditional databases (human production❗❗❗); 2) Never consider the first response as definitive; 3) Maintain a critical stance toward received information; and 4) most importantly, avoid treating AI as the ultimate tool for making crucial decisions.

However, in the desert of the real ("Welcome to the Desert of the Real!" from Žižek), fewer and fewer people seem to be doing this, and that is the real problem.

He just got banned the other day and he already has 50 useless spam posts and a warning point.

I remember calling him out over a year ago but NoAvenger unfairly shut me down. Nonsense like this makes me not want to participate on this forum.

Hello @Mynock, thanks for your article. I also see the problem of the vast mountains of data that we as humans have already accumulated being filtered with AI, which then spits out results for specific questions. Who actually controls the controllers? And what happens to all our data? Only a powerful AI can provide answers with the right programmed question.

AI will also be able to compile statistics about our past, present, and future. Business and political decisions will be made based on these results. For example, Google and Amazon know who you are; they have your purchases and search results there, and have done so for decades.

The central issue is not just AI technology itself, but the type of management, the use of the data that feeds these AIs, and the consequences for society, especially in terms of real empowerment, not just for select privileged groups but for humanity as a whole. In the current setup, a very small number of entities hold an enormous amount of data, and this is already influencing a wide range of important decisions being made.

I don't get the constant "not AGI" goalpost moving. Who cares.

GI is already often better represented by AI than by most humans.

Most of humanity is made up of fleshy automata, unable to escape their pre-determined firmware*.

"But AI is still different. It's not intelligence, bro. I'll know GI when I see it. I am not a machine though, bro. I just know."

"I just know" is that ignorance that is hardwired into your DNA for the sake of your self-preservation - your firmware's prison that you can't escape.

What makes us different from any reasonably sophisticated machine? You don't know. I don't know, no one does. Except the religious folks, they always "know" and have all the answers to everything without ever questioning anything.

Increasingly reminiscent of how people have always moved the goalposts on any topic they find inconvenient, unpleasant or which might diminish their own specialness (like violence against animals).

    *Foreshadowing generalisation

I'd like to add something: posted twice, but nobody cared, so, the 3d time with further explanation:
    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GRi8FqmwvBc

I was going to hire 2 female dancers for my clip, but after watching that video, I changed my mind, why?
1st it's necessary to find a couple of beautiful girls, who can dance much better a middle level
    2. To find a choreographer
    3. to find a venue for filming
    4. Okay, I'll do the shooting myself on my smartphone (save a little)...
but then I stumbled on that video with AI produced dance, and more, I found online services which do it for free! So, I'm saving as a minimum $500,
but, hey, the film producers looking at the happening and think about replacing live actors, at least for the mass meeting, crowds, etc. And the next stage: Brad Peat and Jennifer Lawrence make a living writing memoirs about their past shoots

Have you ever figured out what AI production actually costs? How many man-hours go into the video? What do the online services make their living from? Where do they get their money from? If the AI is cheaper than a model, the AI will put the models out of work.

Well, not trying to suck anybody's dick, but a couple of cases are difficult.
For instance, I have one warning for... ahem... "talking" about Foster while he wasn't here. Basically between they last banned him and next time he popped out again.
Technically is fair. In practice I consider it an award

PS. I was talking about mods/staff in general. When it comes to @No Avenger in particular I'm biased because he's a cherished friend :mates:
I agree. It's amazing and fucked-up at the same time. There's already actors fighting against future AI-based exploitation of them. Some of the younger ones are fretting their hands at the possibility of "playback-lip-syncing equivalent of acting". "I don't need to be super hot/slim/ muscular during 4 months. Just scan me and put me those motion sensors"

Legislation must be made, and quickly.

Yes I know about the jobs thing but these Kiosks aren't the entire cause of all that - it's mostly automation that is physically taking jobs from humans. It's insidious that the ones who benefit from humans losing their jobs is the capitalist elite (i.e. corporations).

In 10 years, all things remaining equal, nothing will happen. Because this so-called "AI" cannot become more than the sum of its parts - which is probably the most key attribute of real AI. Quite frankly real AI should scare the crap out of you because of it being able to exceed its programming, and at that point who knows what the hell it will do.
