This is short video demonstration of playing around with Live and ambient dub techno style chords and beats... just for learning purpose...
I work with my headphones (not so good), because my wife watch tv :), so final sound may not be perfect.

In this video I try to demonstrate:

    - save arrangement after making some clips
    - play with automations

This is just test arrangement... now it's time for producing more sound and fx for real :)

So, at the end of video I play wrong mixdown, here is on soundcloud the right file :)

I quite liked it before all the melody started playing. Just replace it with some fine noise which will have the same meaning for you as the chords etc

You always produce by the textbook?

Of course you can produce ambient dub techno without dub bass.

Or do you really mean dub stands for "drum and bass" here?

not you are wrong you can't produce ambient dub techno or ambient dub without "dub bass"

this can help for inspiration and understand what is ambient dub techno, ambient dub.

    FOR education about "DUB"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGIqnGEcCbo

I produce Ambient Dub techno follow the basic lines

    ambient (drones,pads) dub (bassline,chords,claps,reverb,delays) techno kick,noise,perc.

    this was my 1.5 cents

Well, resticting oneself to 'genre rules' is the first step to killing creativity. Some people might need rules though, perhaps it gives some security when overwhelmed by the possibilities music has to offer. :break:

But anyways, I stopped those stupid discussion genres years ago, so may it be as you say.

I love Industrial for the very reason that it is the antithesis to stupid rules of creativity even music theory. And why when nikon was nice enough to share a peek into his workflow do we have to demolish his desire to do that in the future by criticism? Makes no sense to me. *no*

    Ohh my ohh my :)

As I said in first post, this is just demonstration, playing... someone intrested can view this video, view workflow, maybe will be intrested in sound of claps etc... and I can make another video just for that type of claps....

Im just playing... THIS IS NOT KIND A PROJECT, I'M NOT ASKING FOR HELP OR OPPINION FOR CERTAIN SOUND I USE... just "playing and sharing"... and just representation of recording Clip Ideas to arrangement ! May be usefull for someone.

I would like to see this kind of videos created by you others too ...

    Exactly my thoughts.

For me the most annoying comments concerning music are (e.g. on Youtube)

    - this is not really deep house
    - this is not jumpstyle, it is hardstyle
    - this is not a techno kick
    - you call this dubstep, bro?
    - dude, where is the noise risers...

    etc. etc.

Well, some people just have to lean on sth, I understand that feeling. But one day, one has to overcome this narrow views.

The main goal of video is workflow.
When I was started (years ago) messing with producing in Renoise and Cubase 3 I wish I have videos like these or other similar on youtube.
No one, actually, notes that the whole idea is realised with few samples (kick, clap, hh) and operator synth. Almost all Live's stuff.

My early belief was, too many and too expensive plugins and you can create a God... but that was early :) and that's not true at all.

... as times go away, I notes I use less and less 3rd party plugins, because I concetrating on pure Live devices/samples... and in my years of 36 I learn everyday about synthesis (of every kind) - I'm not ashamed. (Wish I have big budget and empty space for modular :))

Believe me or not, but I use Live for three years from now and I never used any of factory preset for Operator or Analog etc... Try to create every sound by myself - that's fill me up !

... and beside Live's stuff I must say that I use and lot Puremagnetik stuff, Waves and Sonnox 3rd party plugins.

Well said, I try not to even look at YouTube comments because it's just nonsense. For every video put up there MUST be at least a few people that say something like that. Many artists themselves when asked these very questions will answer in the same way that we have. It actually annoys most of them to no end.
