Im wondering if any of you have tried the software Mesh 2 HRTF. https://www.mesh2hrtf.org/

I think this is the next step up for things like headphone correction because it's customized for your heads anatomy.

But there is a considerable amount of work connected to doing this so i wonder if anyone has done it and if it was worth their while.

I've used mesh2HRTF quite extensively, and I recently had a conversation with a researcher who tested its performance. She demonstrated that synthetic HRTFs (mesh2HRTF) are remarkably close to measured HRTFs, especially on the horizontal plane.

It's good at one thing, personalized binaural downmixing for localization purposes (research, VR, gaming etc...). Its main issue is that it is too hard to get a proper scan of the inner ear canal, which is essential for a proper tonality. Also, hair complicates the scanning process, hence the poor vertical performance.

Thankfully, the HRTF that should be used for headphones correction, the diffuse field, is the one that is the most consistent across individuals. A population average diffuse field HRTF should be quite close to yours. So in my opinion, it's not worth it for mixing tasks or other critical listening tasks, because the tonality won't be right. But it's quite interesting for gamers, that need the best localization possible.

Ah ok so if i'm not doing any binaural stuff then it's a waste of time? How long did you need to make all the scans + blender + compute? DId you use the iPhone FaceID cam for this?

Yup, that's my take on it. The process can take a few hours, probably a full day when trying to figure it out. Yeah I used an iPhone's LIDAR.
