A lot of non-electronic music uses electronic sounds, synths, processing. Digital or analog, doesn't matter.

Just a small subset of it, not the full potential of electronic techniques.

Exactly. I produce a lot of rock songs (guitar, bass, and drums) that contain a lot of synths and electronic sounds and processing in there too. Most of the time they often outnumber the amount of real live instrumentation in there. Sometimes I'll even throw in a guitar track or two that's from sampled midi instruments for Kontakt. I don't record real drums anymore but yeah. What you use doesn't dictate the style. Your creativity is the limit with all those things. Nexus2 is a synth that mostly EDM producers use. But I use it in everything I make and from my opinion, my music and EDM are 2 very distinct styles lol.
Many of those rock songs are no longer on my soundcloud (to make space for newer stuff). But I have a whole catalog of them.
In fact I'm in the studio right now and in the back room for guitars alone this is my rig for the current album I will be finishing (hopefully soon). Of course, plenty of amps and basses and stuff but yeah. Of course, I have a lot more guitars than this. But this is what I've chosen for the particular set of songs I am crafting. It's a very Danelectro & Gretsch week for me indeed. :winker:

Plenty of synthesizers to go with all of that as well. Plenty of electronic processing.

To others who didn't like their Xmas toys :

I can't believe so many people still complain about the availability of software offered on the net instead of appreciating all the goodies we already have...

I've got it and have to say it may not be perfect and to everyone's taste but it works really really well. You have to obviously adjust your guitar playing technique some when playing something like a string pad etc but overall i totally love it and have been using it a lot. Its a great innovative tool i think......and no i'm not on the payroll promotion team lol

(sharing it may be tricky though because its linked to a personal account/serial and updates all the time so it could get messy for me. I would guess someone will come out with a cracked version at some point though. However i'd say it is worth the money to buy)

I agree. Are you using an acoustic guitar?

Polyphonic MIDI from a mono source with tracking faster than any of the Roland units I have tried.
The pitch randomness of the guitar string makes a horn sample sound a bit more realistic.
A bass sample with a 2 semitone pitchbend, which allows for vibrato is very fun to play.

The effect similar to the Fernandes 'Sustainor' that is bundled is very interesting too. Synth sounds using this tech while primitive has even less latency.

The built in tuner works like a Polytune.

A truly unique VST with an awful, for now, GUI.

The mic inside the acoustic might be messing with the tracking. Did you have the same trouble using headphones?

@Impressive you have a link to a song that features the Dan prominently?

curious how that sounds in a mix... you don't "see" those guitars used very often...
they do have a distinctive sound, just not terribly easy to pick out..

I wonder if 2018 will be the end of the road for duck lipped selfies as well...

imo plugin devs are mostly competing with eyecandies instead of some groundbreaking functionality advancements,
sample libraries and synths are probably pieces of software determined to constant push for more and more new stuff, but "mixing" plugins are all probably out already,
that said I'm thinking about Heavyocity Punish (only effect they make aside from plenty sound libraries), Oeksound Soothe (automatic processing), maybe also UJAM Virtual Guitarist complete bundle (instrument patterns), eventually SWAM Woodwinds and Strings bundle (instruments again, one of few designed for MPE MIDI), and then waiting for some massive spread of binaural surround sound as a whole (Waves NX being just a tip of iceberg),
most importantly actually, I'm looking forward to Reaper 6 with proper ARA2 support for Melodyne, I guess it's not about to arrive anytime soon :)
