I'm searching for the right configuration for a Macbook Pro 13" for music production (electronic; many virtuell instrument-& effect plugins; less Sampler use)
But I just don't know if the better i5 or the i7 is the right processor for my usage.. or should I spend my money to update the RAM from 8GB to 16GB? My budget is max. 1600€. (EDU price)
I hope someone with experience can help me ..

What country are you in? I would think you'd be able to get both the i7 and 16GB of RAM in that budget. If the edu discount is high enough, I might even look at the quad-core MBP 15", though that's a much larger price jump.

Nevertheless, if your DAW supports 64-bit, then go with the RAM. If it doesn't, then go with the i7. *yes*

 

I'm from Germany. The EDU price isn't that big, maybe 200-300€. Yeah I'm using a 64 bit DAW.
The 15" is to expensive ...
Or should I continue using Win?
