    Hello,

    I hope everything it's okay.

Today I updated Ableton 9.6 to 9.7.1 and I have this problem with M4L:

    1. In Ableton Live – they’re not showing up with the rest of the Max for Live devices.

    2. I can't find them in the folder "user Library" in the left sidebar in Ableton

    3. When I try to open the presets (.adv files) it says: "Could not access the Max device file ‘name.amxd'".

There are a lot of missing things(Pitch Drop, LFO MIDI everything) and I don't know why if before when I updated Ableton to 9.6 didn't disappear.

    Cheers and thanks anyway.

PS: I have W7 and yes, I already tried to go to Settings and put my M4L folder but nothing :(.

PS2: Also I have Packs that doesn't appear:

When in my folder I had:

Try rebuilding your database by moving the contents out of the Database folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 9.7\Database
and Live should automatically rebuild when you start it up. This can take a while but the spinning circle next to PLACES lets you know it's working.
Don't delete the files you originally moved until everything is sorted.

Also check your 'Installation Folder for Packs' at Options > Preferences > Library and make sure it's pointing to the right location.

Hi Pinkman, for Windows users having hidden folders "option" enabled, you can type %APPDATA% in Explorer address bar (URL bar), insead of C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming

It's more short (IMO) and by this way, you bypass the "hidden folder" barrier.

    Same principle is applicable for:
    - %PROGRAMDATA% as C:\ProgramData
    - %LOCALAPPDATA% as C:\Users\username\AppData\Local

To access to Ableton DB, simply type %APPDATA%\Ableton\Live 9.7.1\Database from Explorer (if Live 9.7.1 is your current version, otherwise replace by correct version number in given path).

I figured I'd put the entire path but you're absolutely right.
Another neat little shortcut: Windows key + R and type appdata

Nothing, I moved the database and I waited for the rebuild but doesn't work I'm still without the files of Factory Packs and M4L Devices :dunno:

And the Factory Folder is in the correct location:

I don't know what is wrong.

Try changing the Factory folder location to something else entirely (an empty folder), quit Live, restart your computer then change it back.

Yes it works but... when I open there's nothing to show.

When all packs have folders with instruments/samples:

I have the 6.1 and I realized recently that the last update it's 7.3 but I still don't understand why Orchestral Brass/Strings/Latin Percussion/Guitar and Bass doesn't work when it's just .adg and not part of M4L :dunno:.

PS: https://cycling74.com/downloads/maxforlive/#.WL2JQW996w4 It's free the update?

.adg is what you get when you group multiple devices to make an instrument/drum/audio rack. The .adg that isn't opening could contain a M4L device somewhere in the chain.

    Yes. Do it, bro.

Try right-clicking the Pack and use 'Move Pack' to relocate it to see if the content shows up. You can move it back if it works. Worst case scenario, delete the pack from Places and use the .alp to install it again.

If you have a huge database, it could just be taking a while to scan everything. Make sure Ableton Index is running in Task Manager and just play around in the DAW. Check pack content again after about 30 mins.
