I have actually heard him mention in other videos that he would like to own an Elysia Alpha Compressor as an analog device, and just did again. What's the holdup for him? A waiting list or just that 12 grand is really expensive, especially if compared to a 4000$ device of similar build/quality type of thing?

 

I always wondered what his issue was with putting an SSL comp on a kick (probably had to do with the specific emulation he was using, now that I think of it).
I think Markiplier made a video on it too but just added to the confusion (duh)

Yep, AFAIK the current most successful mixers work with plugin only, for example: Serban Ghenea and Andrew Scheps. But these youtube audience don't care because they like fancy hardware to collect and show it to their friends presumeably to show some dominance.
